Cozy - Edit
Last year we found this place and came to have breakfast every day during our holiday because of their good food. This year we decided to stay at their hotel and we loved it.
Read moreThe manager speaks English, they have vegan items and can veganise those with butter using oil instead. The vegetable momos are delicious, they even offer cooking courses to learn how to make them! Curry is really good, served with rice, and their vegetable soup with dough is perfect for a cold rainy day. Quiet atmosphere with zen music and colourful Tibetan decor. Great coffee, decently priced.
We avoided peak lunch/dinner times to avoid smelling yak meat prepared for other guests, but we never smelled anything.
Wifi wasn't always great but I stayed at the cafe to work online a couple of afternoons because of the nice atmosphere.
Their family sells their own Shangri-La wine and they sell other handmade products that support a social enterprise of rural Tibetan women - although soaps aren't vegan, they contain yak milk.
Pros: Quiet, zen music, Tasty food, Flexible
Cons: Advertises yak products a lot
