Perfection

This is my favorite restaurant in NYC. The classic, low-key Chinese restaurant setting and affordable prices are almost misleading for how superb the food is.

A must-visit restaurant imo

Wonderful Vegan Journey

My Bodhi adventure was an absolute delight! It all began with a complimentary warm teapot, a gesture that set the tone for the evening. Exploring their extensive regular menu and dim sum menu was a joy, especially knowing that everything was vegan.

I opted for a variety:
Sticky Rice Shumai ($5.25), a pleasant surprise with its crunchy texture and vibrant flavors, truly a dish to remember.
Cha Shui Bao - Steamed Veg Meat Bun ($5.95), with its cloud-soft bun, was delightful, although the filling lacked flavor.
Steamed Home Dumpling - GF ($5.95), generously packed with veggies, was good but didn't quite steal the show.

Then there was the Special BBQ Veg Meat ($8.95)! It was more than just a dish; it was a trip down memory lane. I hadn't tasted something so reminiscent of my childhood in ages. With the first bite, nostalgia washed over me, and I was almost brought to tears. It's astounding how food can transport us to moments wrapped in love and comfort. I would order this again in a heartbeat.

Bodhi also offers gluten-free options, and boasts friendly service. It offers a heartwarming, belly comforting, not breaking the bank, food-venture!

Pros: Expansive Menu, Vegan Dim Sum, Gluten-Free Options

Tasty, affordable, fast!

It has been our first time here. We have just been around Chinatown searching for a vegan restaurant. It was a pleasure eating here. Really friendly staff and affordable for New York standards. 😋

All vegan Chinese

This is an all vegan Chinese restaurant. The food was really good. I’m not normally massively into mock meats, but their salt & pepper vegan spare ribs were excellent. We got a selection of dim sum, but the highlight was probably the French bean side dish. Well worth a visit.

Absolutely worth it

This offers an enormous selection of various vegan Chinese dishes. The food is fresh, flavorful and authentic. Several dishes use different kinds of vegan meat such as lamb, chicken or even shrimp. Additionally, the prices are surprisingly cheap, so it's definitely worth it trying out this restaurant!

My new favourite in NYC

This is an excellent vegan Chinese restaurant with a wonderful selection of vegan dim sum dishes and full entrees. It’s not far from Canal St so it’s worth your consideration if you are in the area. Lots of room, looks pretty clean and the food is EXCELLENT! Wonton soup was delicious. Can’t wait to go back

Pros: Excellent dim sum , Great apps, Good soup

A New York Vegan Staple

Vegan-friendly dim sum!? Be still my plant-based heart!

I came here twice in one trip to New York. First was for my friend's wedding "rehearsal dinner," and the following was for dim sum because they stop selling it after 16:00. Makes sense Bodai, but you make me need to come back once more and there were no regrets.

Our dinner was fantastic all around. We ordered a variety of dishes to share family style, with some highlights being their fried taro cutlets (LOVED these), their Cha-Shu, and their Eggplant simmered in curry sauce. Food came out super quick and everything was delicious.

On my dim sum visit, I felt like I picked out everything on the menu. I loved their rice rolls and Shark Fin Dumplings the most, with the tripe being a great surprise. I wasn't a fan of their 'spare ribs' nor their sticky rice dumpling, but considering the sheer amount of vegan options here, I can't complain. This was a great treat for myself who's used to now finding maybe 1-2 options with my parents at dim sum restaurants.

For all my meat eating friends out there, this is a great spot to consider if you're looking to eat less meat, and remember to order veggies too! It's not just the mock meat that vegans eat. These are considered a treat for us!

Service was wonderful and it definitely gets busy. Try to make a reservation and keep parties smaller to be seated sooner.

Pros: Amazing vegan dim sum options

The food was super delicious and authentic, we especially loved the fried pea pods! There was also a lot of choice for tasty vegan dim sum. The service was super friendly and organised. The mango smoothie was also really refreshing and tasted like pure mango, I would really recommend it!

4.4/5

First and foremost, they need to update the pictures on their menu. It doesn’t do them any justice but I suppose that’s jus true hidden magic.

at first I was a bit taken aback by the prices but one must always remember these are shareable plates. It was two of us tonight and we had one medium steamed bun dimsum (came with 3) and the sesame veg chicken (came with broccoli) with one serving of rice. That was enough for the two of us for dinner. Came out to around 25$ total.

I really like the texture of the sesame chicken and the sauce had a hidden sweetness. The broccoli is a nice touch as well. This was filling too!

The steamed buns are iconic for me. Wonderfully made. In hindsight, it feels weird to pay over $2 per pun when I can get multiple in Taiwan for $2 butttt I guess that’s NYC for ya.

The staff was incredibly friendly evening starting us off with complimentary tea.

Overall a heartwarming experience of food that is what it is and gives well.

Pros: Steamed buns!

Good food but they tricked us into overpaying

The food was fresh and delicious. The waitress was super nice and claimed that everything on the menu was vegan.
When we got the bill however, they just presented our sum and listed some suggested tip underneath. Unfortunately I didnt think about what out prices would actually have added up to and gave them 22%. They didnt say anything and charged us. Only later did I realize that they had already included 25% tip in our bill and basically made me add another tip (In my case 22%), so we ended up paying 47% tip.
Not cool.

Pros: Fresh and great taste, Friendly staff

Cons: 25% already included in final bill

Amazing! Must try

I’ve never had dim sum before, and it was an experience. All the options were overwhelming so we did 2 apps to get a little taste of everything sticky rice balls. We enjoyed everything and it was more than enough food. We had left overs. Go before 4 pm for a cheaper dim sum!

Vegan dim sum

I've been dying to try a vegan dim sum place, and Bodhi Kosher Vegetarian definitely hit the spot. Everything tastes so authentic, just like the non-vegan versions I had in my childhood. I love the mom-and-pop vibe and easygoing ambiance. My favorites were the fried sticky rice dumplings and veg meat pastries. My non-vegan friends were impressed by the food as well - they couldn't tell it was entirely plant-based! Service was really quick, and the prices were reasonable. Definitely stop by this place if you're in NYC and craving some delicious & authentic vegan dim sum!

Fun and Yummy

Really fast service, and good food. However, it was a little hit and miss in that department. Some items were amazing (particularly the Singapore Noodles) but others weren't as good (veg shrimp steamed dumplings and sweet and sour veg ribs).
It's a bit hard to tell if it's all vegan or just all vegetarian. Also MASSIVE portion size. Expect to share or have a lot to take home.
Overall I really liked it though, and would go again!

Wonderful Food

I was really excited to try the dim sum here, and it did not disappoint. We ordered an array of plates and found everything enjoyable. The spring rolls were delightful, and the ribs were an absolute revelation, I've never had anything like them before. I felt like we were able to try a lot of dishes and it was pretty reasonably priced.

However, our service was somewhat aggressive and strange and made me very uncomfortable. To "explain" how to order, the server physically grabbed one person's hand and put the pencil in it. She also started to massage/poke another member of our group. She described herself as "hot" and spouted a lot of nonsense about gender roles. It was not great. It seemed like all the other servers were acting like normal people, so perhaps we were just very unlucky.
