Boba tea garden is the s**t - Edit

My gf and I were looking at vegan places to eat and came across this vegetarian place. It’s f**king amazing. 95 percent of the menu is vegan! The “meat” is made from soy or whey and taste like real meat. The flavors are complex and so fresh. We had the “chicken” bahn mi and a “beef” vermicilli dish with summer rolls. They obviously had boba as well and it was delicious. This all was a low price of $23 dollars! We got super quality vegan food for a great price. The staff were super nice as well. It’s a must see destination point if you’re vegan or vegetarian in San Antonio.

Pros: Bangin ass food , Bangin ass boba , Fake meat that taste wayyy better than real meat

Cons: None, None, None

Family Friendly - Edit

My whole family loved coming here! The restaurant was extremely clean and the couple running the place was very nice! Between all of us we ordered 3 different bowls of Pho and I ordered a vermicelli bowl. Everything was amazing! And it's so nice to be able to go and order ANYTHING! I can eat just straight up veggies but our kids long for the meat texture and all of the meats offered here was delicious as well as had a great texture. This will definitely become a GO TO place for us!

Pros: Options, Cleanliness, Delicious

Delicious Pho - Edit

I’ve dined in and picked up dinner and it’s always delicious. I get the seafood noodle soup and my husband has tried a few different dishes. All are good and vegan. The mango smoothie with boba is a great dessert.

A hit with the family. - Edit

This place has earned each star for sure. My dad who isn't vegan or vegetarian loved it even though he knew the meat wasn't actually meat, and same thing for my brother. The soup is a generous portion so be prepared for leftovers. Don't forget to check out the shelves of specialty foods they have for sale that you can cook at home or snack on the road.

Their boba tea is also superb and you can get coconut milk instead of dairy milk.

Pros: Wonderful staff., Great taste., Good price.

I absolutely love this place, I'm both vegetarian and diabetic and the lovely misses who attended me and my sister(who also doubles as the cook) made sure that I got a drink that was sweetened with Stevia, homemade banana bread(also diabetic friendly) and my Grilled Lemongrass Beef with brown rice was absolutely amazing with the seaweed sheets that she recommended I ate with the meal. Never in my life have I felt so at home at a restaurant. I will never stop recommending this place! Everything is prepared with care and precision and sold at a low price too!! A truly, humbling place ran by a real hardworking Vietnamese originated couple who know how to provide amazing service.

Pros: Inexpensive, Homemade, Real Vietnamese

Cons: There, are, none.

Delicious! - Edit

The owners are very friendly once to start talking to them. I really enjoyed the Combo Noodle Soup. The "meatballs" were good.

If you like good fake meat, you'll love this place - Edit

No MSG! Gluten Free ... right on the front of the menu. At bottom in red: "We are 100% vegetarian restaurant. All the meats are made either from soy curls or wheat protein." (Yes, lots of discussion on whether hydrolyzed wheat protein is truly GF .. if processing 'destroys gluten' or not ... so beware.)

BobaTea Garden opened April 2017 at this location. Previously, House of Pho somewhere else. Small, family-owned & run. Very friendly, hard-working people! Under-staffed so they cook, serve, cashier & everything else. May have to wait.

Appetizers, Entrees, Soups, Sandwiches, Broken Rice fare. Drinks include 24 different smoothie/boba tea choices. 8 different 'toppings' (on the bottom?) make smoothie into boba tea. Also fresh fruit juices, tea & coffee (no decaf).

FYI: ALL COLD DRINKS SERVED IN 16 OZ CUPS, NOT 24 OZ AS MENU SAYS. We bought 3 smoothies at 24 oz price. At home, my liquid measuring cup verified 16 oz, not 24 oz. - Missing 1/3 of our delicious drinks! - Every other customer we saw also got 16 oz drinks & paid for 24 oz.

Same pricing for 16 oz seems fair. Nobody complains. It'd be nice if they just change the menu to say 16 oz. When I spoke with owners, they insisted 24 oz was accurate at first. Then refused to simply change/correct the menu. Whatever. Now you know.

Food was good, not great. I'm not a fan of fake meat. I like lots of veggies. Mine had fake meat w/a little veggies. 3 of us ate lunch. One is carnivore. He was very impressed. Said his carnivore friends like it, too. That said, I'd like to go back and try their 'shrimp'. I'm sure they'll serve me a little 'shrimp' with lots of veggies if I ask. You can, too, is my guess. They appreciate their patrons & want to please.

NOTE: Menu says fish sauce served with many dishes. Will check if it really is fish or fake. (They're closed now.)
UPDATE: According to one of the owners, their fish sauce has no fish products in it. He says it's vegetarian. So it's 'fish' sauce. (I'd want to see the bottle for myself.)

Surprise! Eggs in summer rolls (maybe in other dishes, too?) so ask! (Would not agree that vegan options are clearly labeled.)

Smoothie/boba tea base is milk. Choice of almond, coconut or reg. (dairy) milk. Fresh fruit smoothies were yummy, especially guava!! We also had mango! Both with coconut milk. Delicious!! Will be back to try others.

I do believe returning and bridging cultural differences will clarify any confusion. Great little place on NW side. Yay!

Pros: Clean & bright, friendly, simple, casual dining , tasty food, esp if you like fake meat, refreshing, unusual drinks, lot of options

Cons: Cold drinks are 16 oz (not 24 oz per menu) , service can be slow with too few staff, "Meats" written on menu w/o quotes - confusing
