Favorite Chinese in the area

My go to’s are the vegan delights soup without noodles, The crispy tofu with awesome sauce, fried vegetable dumplings, ants on a log, and the Firebird tofu dish. They’re all super delicious. I’ve been to both locations and got take out and never had bad service.

Pros: Great vegan options, Large portions, Affordable

Cons: Dine in can have a wait

Solid vegan options

Veggie dumplings are great (get them pan fried) and VERY large. Could easily be an entree. Also had “ants in a tree”, which was good. Waitstaff were very nice

Love!!

I love this place. It’s one of my top spots to visit when I’m visiting home. Get the black bean tofu with noodles instead of rice. The eggplant pockets, veggie dumplings, and lettuce wraps are also amazing!

freindly, delish, several good options

I love so much here, a favorite for groups of friends or co-workers. There is a hearty vegan soup that is delish but it's hard to eat (includes chunks of corn on the cob). They will sub bean noodle if you don't do wheat/gluten. Favorites include Eggplant appetizer, tofu with awesome sauce, and my absolute favorite: Shitakke mushroom with tofu noodle soup: tasty broth, lots of mushrooms and spinach. I ask for "Awesome sauce" on the side. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. Nice tea selection as well. Veg friendly, but the definitely serve meat options as well.

Pros: awesome sauce, vegan and vegetarians soups, adaptable to mutliple tastes by adding sauces

Cons: as usual for KC, more meat than veg items on menu, it can get busy on weekends

Love this place

Great noodles, friendly staff, can make lots of subs. I get the curry tofu with dry noodles and add extra cauliflower. Dumplings are great too.

Pros: Tofu, noodles, dumplings. 😍

SO GOOD!

Had the fried eggplant tofu appetizer. It came with a delicious garlic sauce for dipping. Then the tofu with shiitake mushrooms. I ordered with noodles (I checked, no eggs!) and glad I did as they were obviously freshly made (wheat noodles, but they also had rice noodles available if you want/need). It was a simple dish, but the sauce it came with was phenomenal! Worth every penny! ($15 for the entree).

Pros: Lots of vegan options labeled on menu, Fantastic sauces

Cons: A little pricey

Juicy noodles

Great atmosphere, friendly service. I had the braised tofu with shiitake mushrooms. The noodles were soft and juicy. The mushrooms tasted amazing and really brought the dish to a high level. 12.50 a little pricey for Asian cuisine.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Great local beer

Cons: Expensive

Great food and great service. Get the vegetarian soup. It's vegan and delicious! And go to the book store across the street. It is the coolest book store you will ever be in.

Great meals

The menu items are clearly marked vegetarian/vegan. You can also ask if you are unsure.

I got the vegan ants on a tree, and it was super!! The bubble tea is ok, not fantastic, LOTS of tapioca bubbles. I got the mango kind. The portion sizes were huge. Enough for my lunch, and then leftovers for my dinner that night.

It was rather busy, but we didn't have to wait long. It has a homey atmosphere and the workers are very nice.

I definitely enjoyed myself!

Pros: Lots of veg options, Big portions, Tasty food

Cons: Can get busy, Small space

LOVE Blue Koi

This place is mecca for vegans. All kinds of vegan-friendly food. I usually load up on starters: dumplings, crispy tofu and lettuce wraps. The Midtown restaurant is very large and welcoming, the food is amazing and the service is very friendly.

Pros: Friendly staff, Affordable, Excellent food

Cons: Serves meat

One of the best places I've ever eaten

This place is great. If they didn't serve meat, I'd say they were my favorite restaurant of all time.

The staff is very knowledgeable of veganism, the owners actually understand veganism (rather than guessing and getting it wrong, like I've seen other restaurants do). Several items on the menu have 'vegan' in the name, and most of the vegetarian options are vegan.

Many of the menu items come with a description of the dish and then say to choose tofu/chicken/beef.

I highly recommend the scallion biscuit, the crispy tofu with spicy awesome sauce (that's really the name) and the vegetarian lettuce wraps. But really, I've never had anything here I didn't like.

These are also the same owners as the Genghis Khan Mongolian BBQ around the corner.

Pros: Clearly marked 'vegan' items, Knowledgeable staff

Cons: Long waits on weekends, Serves meat

Very Accommodating

This place had wonderful service and food. The waitress was very helpful in checking on items to make sure they were animal ingredient free. She didn't even blink when I said I was vegan. She was also very accommodating in providing substitutions for my mother's food allergies. I ordered the fried vegetarian dumplings, which were pretty good. I ordered the Tofu with Black Bean Sauce as an entree and is was absolutely delicious! Not heavy or greasy like a lot of Chinese/Asian food. The atmosphere is pretty casual and a little noisy from the kitchen.

Pros: Excellent Waitstaff, Delicious Food, Quick Service
