Great junk food! - Edit

Couldn’t resist a visit to Bliss & Chips as it’s incredibly unique. I love that it “specialises” in deep-fried food!
My boyfriend wanted to come here to try the Suzy Spoons roast in action which he throughly enjoyed. I had real trouble deciding what to get as it all sounded so nice. I finally settled on the Cheesy Meet and also ordered a side of chips and deep friend jalapeños. All of it was very delicious, especially the chips as it’s hard to get good chips in Australia.
Our omni friend had a garlic prawn sandwich which he really enjoyed.
My only bug bear is the price. For the style of food it’s quite expensive and I’ve paid less in proper sit down restaurants with table service. However, the location probably means it’s a bit more costly.

Delicious - Edit

It's been decades since I've had battered 'fish' and it was great. Enjoyed the tartare sauce too. I'll be back for sure to try other items in the menu as it's ALL vegan.

Enjoyed a feast of battered fish and chips, garlic prawns, salad, deep fried cheese, and some other sides. All were delicious! A bit pricey, but a wonderful treat

Sooo gooood - Edit

Super friendly staff and reeeeally good food.

The "duck" burger as a wrap was so tasty! Also loved the prawn stick things (didn't manage to take a pic as I gobbled it up real quick) and vanilla milkshake.

I also didn't get a sick feeling afterwards which I often get from mock meat, so that was great.

Holy mother of god those burgers - Edit

I've been hanging out to try this place since it opened but I don't often find myself in Sydney, so as soon as I found out I'd be spending a day there I fit coming here into my schedule. I had an Aussie burger, which had bacon, egg, patty, cheese, pineapple beetroot, onion, lettuce and tomato, and its probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. Tasted just like a greasy chip shop burger, but better, and it was the size of my head. The egg was amazing too, I have no idea how they did it but it was glorious. I also had a piece of fish, and it was really good, but I'd definitely recommend the burger to anyone first. Absolutely loved this place

Pros: DEM BURGERS

I went here for lunch the other day after seeing the sign out the front advertising the duck burger. Boy was it incredible! I already can’t wait to go back and have it again!

tastes better than it looks - Edit

Pleasantly surprised at how good the food is here. We had the Aussie burger, seafood basket and hot chips. The Aussie burger is absolutely delicious. Isn’t sickly at all and one of the best burgers I’ve had. The “prawns” in the seafood basket were a let down but the “fish”, “crab” and the “squid” were unreal. Definitely do not need to get chips.

Pros: Aussie burger , fish, squid and crab

Cons: prawns , cost of chips

Amazing vegan takeaway/fast food experience - Edit

Incredible food if you’re needing to fulfil that craving for ‘fish and chips’. The woman who runs Bliss is obviously very dedicated to veganism and to making sure customers are happy, often making attempts to remember people’s names and ask for feedback on the food. Such a good place, love it here.

YUMMY Best chips in Sydney - Edit

Fantastic burgers, especially the B.E.A.T.C.H. The sweet potato wedges and chips are delicious. The shakes, especially with the pandan flavour, are out of this world.

Very Disappointed. - Edit

The food was appalling and cost my husband and I $60 for two burgers and a seafood basket with chips! The "seafood basket" was essentially all the same mock crab cut into different shapes and the chicken burgers were over cooked, deep fried pieces of dry chewy stuff on a flat bun that both resembled and had the same texture as cardboard. I had three bites of my burger, and refused to eat the rest. That is really saying something as I hate wasting food and am usually very conscious of finishing my meal to be polite. I also usually feel mean about giving places a bad review but in this case I think the ridiculous prices in comparison to the quality of the product warrant it. I would have given this one star but for some reason happy cow has a default setting of two :/

Best Burger ever - Edit

I’ve been a veg since 1975 and eat out all over the world and without exaggeration this was the best burger ‘the mother’ I’ve ever had.

Pros: burgers, ‘seafood’ variety, drinks

too fast foody - Edit

I was keen to try some vegan fast food but it was so gross. Too great and blah! I felt bad as I couldn't even finish it. Maybe I made a poor choice. If you were into that type of food pre-vegan then may be ok.

Tasty dose of deep-fried goodness, but not much more - Edit

I was looking forward to a big delicious lunch of vegan fish and chips and I wasn't disappointed in terms of a fix of deep-fried goodness. We ordered a lot, probably more than we should have. The chips, fish and calamari were all beautifully cooked, crisp and tasty, not greasy. Unfortunately the texture of the fish and calamari was quite rubbery. The sides of tartare sauce and aioli were also a bit sweet for me. The chicken burger was OK, but the mock chicken took the form of dry pellets, which were not really that appetising or delicious. The dishes were generally a decent size, particularly the large chips. Everything I've mentioned, plus a drink, cost $51. It sounded expensive, but it was a lot of food, although we managed to finish it all between two of us.

Pros: Deep-fried food is beautifully cooked, Portion sizes are decent

Cons: Texture of fish and calamari is rubbery

Tasty, good stuff - Edit

This place is great if you've got a craving for something a bit naughty. It's definitely not healthy, but it hits the spot. Tastes exactly what I remember fish n chips to be like.

Pros: tasty, portions are good, staff are nice

Cons: a little on the pricey side

great fish - Edit

A friend and I had the fish basket and chicken pieces. Being vegetarian for most of my life and now vegan I didn't really know what fish tastes like anyway but this fish could've fooled me! Tastes like what I'd assume fish is and it was very good. Would go more often if it was closer

Not a big fan - Edit

I went there with my boyfriend and we were really excited.
we tried the fish and chip and few others things on the menu. We found the texture quite similar to fish but it was tasteless and really oily ..

I think that you can find a better place to eat in newtown for that price range (Healthier or not)

Really good vegan fish and chips - Edit

They had a selection of different types of vegan fish, along with multiple cut chips. As an Englishman, I'm quite fussy when it comes to fish and chips but they hit the nail on the head with their dishes. I would highly recommend them to anyone visiting the Newtown area!

Pros: Good "fish", Good chips

Cons: Not a great selection of drinks

Bliss And Chips - Edit

Had lunch here with a vegan friend we both enjoyed chick pea salad, quinoa with brocolli and mint and basil salad and slaw with vegan mayo. $10. Was very tasty and veggies were crunchy.
They did have fresh juices, soy drinks and various teas. They sold vego vegan chocolates and health bars.
Well worth a visit if you are in Newtown area.

Twice visited but never again - Edit

I've been here twice. First time I had the standard fish and chips but found that although the fish looked good it ended up being a bit stodgy. The second time round I went for the veg burger which was awful - an undercooked burger in crappy bread roll with some coleslaw. Both times the chips were very ordinary.
Probably the most annoying thing was the very loud teen muzak via Spotify which was a definite turn-off.
Please - get the chips right and turn down the music. It would be a start.

Cons: Stodgy food, Loud and lousy music, Very ordinary chips

Great to have fish and chips again! - Edit

I haven't eaten fish in over 5 years so I was incredibly excited about eating at this restaurant incase it was underwhelming. I went with 3 other meat eaters. I had the classic fish and chips dish which was stunning and everyone else agreed. My friends were shocked at how realistic my dish was (so was I!). The duck roll wasn't rated too highly by the meat eaters although I thought it was great and the two other people had seafood which they didn't rate too highly (I didn't try it as I wasn't a fan when I ate fish). I would 100% recommend that everyone try this eatery. I wish I lived in Sydney!

Pros: Amazing food, Super cheap, Great location

Cons: Not all dishes are perfected (yet)

quirky - Edit

We had a lovely old style fish and chip meal. The front of house service was good, but the delivery of food was a little slow and arrived in dribs and drabs and with little flair or announcement of which dish was being delivered. Food was good and it's a brilliant idea. I'll be back!

Overhyped - Edit

After many years, I was very excited to have fish and chips again. Unsure of what to pick, I went with the 3-fish + chips pack, which enabled me to taste three different types of fish. Full disclosure, when I used to eat fish, I ate it rarely and only liked very mild fish, anything with a strong fishy flavour was out.

One of the mock-fish tasted horribly fishy, the second was tolerable: still too fishy but with an ok texture, the third was mild and with a nice flavour, but the texture rubbery. The chips were a little below average too, not crisped enough.
