Good bowl and nice vegan option on an island without many

Chincoteague is getting more vegan options. There are a few vegan or vegetarian poke bowls at Blackfin. And plantains! The tostones (fried plantains) were a bit too salty and they were out of jackfruit today.

Multiple fresh options $$

This was a great find amongst limited options in the area! We got 2 bowls that were both already labeled vegan: we chose brown rice & tofu with one (it was uncooked which weirded me out at first but with the teriyaki sauce was actually awesome) & jackfruit & spring mix with other. They were fast, fresh, delicious, generous portions & friendly staff. They had good drink options, too—Ocean City made kombucha & Honest Tea brand. Only drawback was price: $14 for each bowl we thought was high for food truck, but it’s summer season in tourist area, so? Would go back for sure!

Pros: Multiple options, Fresh & fast, Lots of flavor

Cons: Prices high for food truck, Outside seating (bugs)

Excellent!

We stumbled upon this food truck on a Monday when most other places were closed (even in high season). I’m so glad we did! I had the Buddha bowl with tofu and it was delicious! No need to make any subs to make it vegan! I think there were others that also did not need to be modified but I zoned in on the Buddha first. It’s run by 2 surfers who are very happy to help and accommodating. We made an off-the-menu bowl for my daughter and they were more than happy to do so. Located next to (sort of in the parking lot) of AmaRin coffee shop. Definitely worth a try!

They say they close when they run out of various ingredients. While we were there they closed around 7:30. Other vegan options food trucks you need to call way ahead to order. Not this one!

Pros: Fresh & healthy , Menu options that don’t need modification!, Accommodating

Cons: Kind of pricey
