The chili cheese fries!!! - Edit
Burgers are great. Wings are phenomenal. But those chili cheese fries keep me coming back!! We eat here regularly, sometimes in house, sometimes pickup and eat at home, but always happy with our food. The "chicken" sammie is super delicious too. Good selection of beers on tap if you're eating in. Friendly and helpful staff. Bring your vax card because they check but that's awesome because it makes eating in a lot more comfy knowing everyone is vaxed.

It’s a winner - Edit
Excellent food, good beers on tap. If you’re looking for a place in the Hungry Tiger vein, this is your spot—and all vegan to boot! Also obviously it’s a great thing that they require vaccinations, like just about every place in the city. Is that even controversial?

No regrets - Edit
This was a pretty nice place with some real punk vibes. When going here I new it would be a bar style restaurant and the food was exactly what I expected for that. Out off all the things I would say the Mac and cheese could have used a little more flavor or sauce. Felt like it was just missing something.
Read moreAlso ordered the vegan wings and they had a good taste, but slid right off the sugar cane “bone” so had to eat each one in one go.
Over all the burgers were good and I would def go back again.
Pros: All vegan, makes life easy, Some items fully made in-house., Lots of options
Cons: Little pricey for the style of restaurant.

Arrived around 3/4 with a few friends for food and drinks, the atmosphere was v chill, decor was beautiful and dark. The food was super delicious and the drinks were impeccable as much as they were creative.

I’d give it another shot - Edit
Went here with a group of 4 other people. Food was really good and servers were pleasant enough while ordering, but then 3/5 meals were delivered and after 10 minutes we were still waiting for the other two. When politely mentioning to one of the servers that we were still waiting he defensively said, “I didn’t take your order!” Then one person in our group had to awkwardly point out that he had in fact taken her order (but honestly why did that matter?) he said, “Ok, but I only took YOUR order.” It was an odd reaction and we weren’t rude at all, we just wanted to get our food. My husband then had to remind the server what he had ordered and it seemed like the order had not even been put in yet. I get it, places get busy, things get forgotten. What I don’t understand is pointing the finger and being defensive and offering no apology whatsoever. Perhaps it was an off night or the server was new and overwhelmed. I’d give it another shot because the food was good and I enjoyed the atmosphere.

The perfect variety of yumminess. The Mac and cheese is the typical nutritional yeast kind, but still yummy. Caesar salad is delicious!!!

Vegan bar food in a punk rock dive that wears its activism on its sleeve. ❤️ - Edit
[censored] beer served by awesome folks. Ok, so you can get good beer and fancy cocktails as well, but this is the kind of place where a PBR functions just as well. Vegan pub grub hits the spot, and the folks working there are authentic, and great. This was the first bar I have visited with a publicly advertised Safer spaces program and am happy to have seen others follow suit.

The food is pretty terrible here. It kind of perfectly describes that cheap bar food that seems frozen and reheated. Definitely would not eat here again, but would still come for the great atmosphere and music.

fav spot in portland! - Edit
This bar is hands down my favorite spot here in portland! I’m from San Francisco and come up yearly just to partake in the delicious food here but Black Water always takes the cake! the staff is very friendly and what an amazing/cool theme. You’ll see many different people here all welcomed eating their fully vegan menu and drinking at the bar😄the food is beyond delicious and interesting vegan options you definitely don’t always see. My non-vegan boyfriend happily devoured our huge dinner we ordered because there was just too many options that sounded amazing. We were not disappointed and never have been by this restaurant! if you’re on the fence about eating here please try it! a lovely environment with great food! (try the western burger and add cheese if you were a fast food lover before going vegan)

Best Wings! - Edit
My fiancé and I stopped here after an animal-rights march in Portland and we are so glad we did! We ordered chicken wings and they were the best we’ve ever had. We also ordered the Philly and French dip, both of which were good (my fiancé loved the French dip, I thought both sandwiches were pretty okay). Service was outstanding and I would recommend coming here if you are in the area. We’ll be back the next time we’re in Portland, if only for the wings!
