Cute little bakery / cafe. Had some sweet rolls and a “nae egg and haggis” sausage roll. Everything was fresh and delicious and cheap!

Tofu Benedict was fantastic - Edit
We stopped in for brunch, had the Benedict and also a couple of pastries and it was all delicious. Good value, friendly and also a fridge stocked with vegan cheeses for sale. Definitely recommend this place, fabulous food!

Small café serving a range of vegan dishes. Unfortunately the majority of food is processed/fake meats. I had the bagel which was okay but nothing special. The coffee was delicious though

Nice for a spot of lunch - Edit
We opted for the special Welsh rarebit toastie between us and a cake.
Read moreWe had hot chocolate to drink that was really good.
The toastie was full of ingredients and overflowing when eating it. It said it had marmite onions but I would have taken more of the marmite flavour.
The cakes were the biscoff swirl and a berry cheesecake. The cheesecake was really light and tasty. The swirl was a little hard around the edges but was still flavoursome

Incredible and delicious food!!! :) - Edit
Only just got round to making this review but me and my mum went there last summer and it was by far the best place for vegans in Edinburgh! I had the Biscoff cruffin which was so yummy 😍

A must visit! - Edit
My partner and I enjoyed an absolutely delicious set of sandwiches at black rabbit today. We got the chicken katsu baguette and a toastie with marmite glazed onion (both the specials) and I can’t even begin to describe how exceptional the flavours were - the toastie was probably the best toastie I have ever eaten in my life, and the katsu baguette was certainly nothing to sneeze at. Portion sizes were very generous given the price and the staff are so lovely, and genuinely passionate about what they do. It’ll be the first place on our list next time we visit Edinburgh! Can’t wait to come back here.

Fantastic vegan coffee shop - Edit
Wow this place is amazing! All vegan, and for the right reasons too. Great coffee, delicious buns. I had a cinnamon roll which was VERY tasty. They do a haggis sandwich! Cute!

Excellent - Edit
Got the hungry rabbit and green rabbit sandwiches for lunch, they were so good that immediately after finishing them we planned our next visit a couple days later. Got the same two and added the breakfast sandwich with egg and bacon and enjoyed them all as much if not more!

A lovely start to the day - Edit
Made a beeline to here for breakfast! Good coffee and chai tea, and a beautiful pistachio croissant. This place will spoil you for choice, I want to try everything! Partner had the vegan Benny, which was a generous portion and had delicious homemade bacon! I was very jealous, the bite I got was so yummy!

Disappointed - Edit
Had really high expectations for this place with all the positive reviews and was sorely disappointed.
Read moreThe place was really really dirty. Didn’t look like the pastry fridge was ever cleaned. The guy sharpening knives didn’t wipe them down after sharpening and the floor looked filthy.
Staff was not very friendly and didn’t like that you were charged 1£ more for everything to dine in. Part of being vegan is being earth friendly to me and you should be charged more for takeaway (ie creating more waste)
The sandwiches were okay. Greasy and pretty salty thought I could’ve got them cheaper elsewhere.
My latte shots died and my latte tasted burnt. Tasted like cheap coffee with a bit of milk.
The strawberry cream croissant was very good. So that made up for it, but I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Pros: Delicious baked goods
Cons: Unfriendly , Dirty, Salty

Sounds like you went on a bit of an off day, friend! We were absolutely blown away today by how wonderful the experience was. My best guess for the discount on takeaway is that the space is so incredibly small that they can’t really seat a lot of people at the same time, which would make it hard for a small business like that to get enough cash through their tills to stay in business. In terms of cleanliness I definitely didn’t see any issues - kitchen was clean and floors were well maintained. As we were finishing our meal, the staff came over and asked us how we liked everything, and chatted to us about the process of how they make their food and shared tips on cooking vegan meats, and even gave us recommendations for places to visit in the area - they were so lovely! Definitely not saying you’re wrong, but this review is pretty harsh for what I’d consider to be the highlight of our trip to Edinburgh - would definitely recommend you give them a second shot if you’ve got it in you! 😁

My fav vegan spot on Earth - Edit
Black Rabbit is a gem! The place is cozy and curated in every detail, the staff is the most friendly, helpful and talented you could ever meet. And whatever I could say about the food wouldn’t quite describe how amazing it is! Their nae eggs are beyond and the cake was a dream.

Very good - Edit
The food was very delicious; we had tofu with vegan bacon. The staff was very friendly. The croissant for dessert with vegan cream and strawberries was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended! Additionally, you can also buy vegan goat cheese. However, the restaurant is very small, and the seating is not very comfortable. But that is the only drawback.

Great place for an informal vegan meal - Edit
All the food was very good. The full vegan breakfast and the grilled sandwich we ordered were great, though the thing I loved the most was the biscoff roll I got for dessert. Despite being a very small place, they have some tables to sit at. I would recommend it for an informal meal.

Our go to for vegan coffee and cake in Edinburgh - Edit
We love black rabbit! The venue is small so we've only ever taken away but every time we're through Edinburgh way we try make sure to catch their opening times for coffees and cakes.
Read moreA big selection of cakes and pastries available. Must admit our favourite were the cruffins which are no longer available but still some excellent choices. We've tried a couple of the sandwich options, usually whatever the special is at the time and have enjoyed pretty much everything we have tried from there.
The staff are lovely and friendly and I believe you get a small discount for taking your own cups for coffee and boxes for cake. Definitely check it out if you're nearby!
Pros: Fully vegan, lots to choose from
Cons: Discontinued cruffins

The girl there was very cute and kind. Every sandwich comes with a little side salad and tastes great, lots of umami thanks to the mushrooms. The cake I tried was filling me to the top and was deliscious. Will return, good prices!

Kind service, delicious food and drinks! - Edit
The nae egg and bacon sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever tasted. They somehow made the tofu taste exactly like egg salad? I’ve never once tasted a tofu dish like this! It was to die for!! My turmeric latte was also the best I’ve ever tried. It was perfectly spiced and not overly sweet. A must visit!

So happy to see them doing sit in now- yes their pastries are great but don't sleep on the savory food. It's the best fill breakfast I've had in Edinburgh so far, and the eggs Benedict is incredible as well.
