Very nice people, very bland food - Edit
They definitely need to add seasoning to their beans/food. I got the vegan tacos and was very bummed when they didn’t taste like anything. My friend got a salad and the lettuce hadn’t been washed. I didn’t notice a bad flavor profile but she said it tasted dirty. Everyone who worked there was so kind though and the place was beautiful.

A hidden gem - Edit
This spot looks so old school and pub like, but they had a decent number of vegan options! There was a quinoa veggie burger, I had tasty veggie tacos. It was a nice meal out for 2 vegans, a vegetarian and a flexitarian.

Great house made veggie burger - Edit
The house made veggie burger is so flavorful! The menu says it’s made with portobello mushrooms and quinoa, and it’s clearly marked vegan. My husband said it was one of the most flavorful veggie burgers he’s had. The fries were also good, and the atmosphere is cozy.
Read moreThey also offer vegan tacos, but we didn’t try those. They also had a quinoa salad on the menu that sounded delicious.
Pros: Vegan options clearly labeled. , Food had great flavor. , Attentive service.

Dinner Options - Edit
Cozy little spot, nice for casual dinner and drinks. Menu options clearly labeled, and the staff was helpful. We got the garlic hummus to start and the vegan burger and vegan tacos for dinner (corn tortillas confirmed vegan, they were not sure that day about the flour as they couldn’t find the label), every option was delicious and really filing. We were really glad we tried it here.

Several options - Edit
Very friendly staff. Was pleasantly surprised how many vegan options they had since this is a little off the beaten path and a pub. Had more options than most restaurants in the area and food was great. Would definitely have eaten here again if we had stayed in the area longer.

House made burger was delicious - Edit
This was a delicious house made burger. Toppings were also lovely and filling. Staff was very friendly. This was one our favorite meals in bar harbor. We wish there were more options on the menus but this was enjoyable.

Good hummus avocado toast, great coffee - Edit
Had a very solid hummus and avocado toast on some hearty multigrain bread. Avocado was a LITTLE underripe, so dropping down to 2 stars what would otherwise be 3. Coffee is excellent, just be sure to specify no milk or cream since they’ll bring it on the side even if you don’t ask. Not sure if they have plant-based milk for coffee, but I drink my coffee black.

Vegan options - Edit
The Black Friar Inn (Pub) was a really quaint place. The people were super nice and they were knowledgable. The non vegan meals were delicious for our non-vegan children, but the vegan meals were less good. The hummus was pretty good, and the bread that accompanied it was delicious. We had the Quinoa and Avocado Salad which was quite bland. They did have another vegan option - a Vegan burger, but neither of us ordered it.

Surprising find - Edit
Again, bar Harbor is not vegan friendly at all. So I was surprised to see two specifically labelled vegan options at this pub. The tacos were a little underwhelming but filling but the vegan burger was great as were the fries and roasted sauce... Check the bread it comes with though. For $14 this meal is value for money in an expensive area.
