Both dishes were amazing. Cafe has a relaxed vibe with a nice forest theme, quite comfortable and in a good location. The staff were friendly the service was great. I really liked the menu selection because it had many interesting choices. Would definitely come back if I ever find myself in Yogya again.

This Restaurants serves 100% vegan food. It has Indonesian food and also breakfast like tofu scramble. You can sit in a AC room, or outside. It cost's a little bit more that his neighbor restaurant, that is also 100% vegan.

Great menu, all vegan friendly, and adorable cafe with a calm aesthetic. Tables had call buttons, service was fast, food was delicious. Parking is only available on the street, bathrooms are decent.

I loved all the vegan versions of local dishes. I wish I could have tried them all. I also really liked the cakes and croissants.
Read moreThe place seems popular with tourists in general - who don't always realize it is fully vegan. I saw multiple people trying to order meat, but they ended up trying the vegan versions and seemed to enjoy them which I always love to see.

Delicious vegan Indonesian dishes - Edit
Most of their Indonesian dishes that I’ve tried were really good. The ones that I like the most are the rawon and the vegan soto. Their lumpia were ok; they’re overpriced considering the amount and tastes. Their breakfast scrambled tofu was also really good. They also have some Western and Japanese dishes.

This is THE place to go as a vegan in Yogyakarta. The atmosphere is great and the food is amazing. Wish I had the time to try everything on the menu. But I would highly recommend the burger and rendang! The milkshakes are also amazing. And they have bitterballen as a starter!!! I went here three days in a row. Not only for dinner, but also for their amazing mixed berry smoothie bowl for breakfast. One day, they even went as far as to come in earlier to make it for me as I was heading out around the time they would open. And when I went there for the final time, before I could leave they gave me a special gift which I have never experienced at a restaurant while traveling. The people that work there are just amazing!

Love this place! Nice music, great affordable food which includes all the traditional Indonesian dishes veganised. We also had breakfast here with excellent smoothie bowls and pancakes. They have delicious cafe and kombucha too. We only didn’t like the Soto soup

A really nice place with an amazing menu and super affordable. Big variety all freshly prepared whole foods. I really loved their vegan soto (a traditional indonesian chicken soup cooked with fresh turmeric- hence the very yellow color- and instead of chicken they used oyster mushrooms). Super yummy and all in all amazing 🤩

After walking 10k through the city, Black Forest Cafe was a refreshing retreat. We came mostly seeking hydration, but upon seeing the compelling menu we ordered a few bites as well. The mushroom satay was excellent - as good as it gets. The chocolate croissant was a treat, though it could’ve used a bit more chocolate inside. The Thai tea was good, and best of all they serve it unsweetened (with a shot glass of sugar syrup on the side, which we didn’t use). There’s nice kombucha as well.
Read moreThe only disappointment was the “carrot cake,” which was a dense and dry bready affair with flecks of carrot, plain frosting, and no particular flavor. We’d kindly suggest to the proprietors to take a second look at that recipe.
The young folks behind the counter were very warm and helpful.
We’d love to return to try more of the menu.
