So sad to lose what was a good option - Edit
A couple of years ago Black Bear had some great vegan options. Slowly those options have been stripped from the menu leaving almost nothing.

Not many vegan options - Edit
They just changed their menu. All they have now is a vegan soup (chili this time), house salad, or rice noodles with marinara. They were caught off guard and struggled to find anything on their menu that would work.

Great Vegan Food - Edit
Everyone seemed very knowledgeable, I got the vegan sloppy joe with the vegan chili. Chili was amazing and sloppy joe was decent (not horrible, just not amazing). They have lots of vegan options on their menu which are clearly labeled, and the restaurant had a homely atmosphere as well. Definitely a great find in this small town.

Not impressed - Edit
If you are vegetarian, you may like this place. if you are vegan, however, maybe not so much. Although the website features sample menus with vegan sections, when we visited we found the staff did not have a clear sense of the meaning of the word vegan. Three menu items were marked with asterisks indicating vegetarian or vegan. We asked if any were vegan, and were told that all three were, even though one was made with egg noodles, and another was made with buffalo mozzarella! It was even suggested that the egg noodles were made with "powdered egg whites," making them vegan??? Powdered eggs are still eggs. There was a vegan chili on the menu, which was tasty and had no obvious animal ingredients, but after our experience with other dishes on the menu, I cannot help but wonder if it really was vegan. I don't think we will be back.
