Much nicer inside - Edit
Someone else recommended here but from the street it looked more like a takeaway and possibly lacking in atmosphere. It wasn’t like this inside. It felt like a proper restaurant. Staff were welcoming. The food was obviously cooked to order and spice levels options were given. I had a plain dosa. Partially because of other reviews and the description that it was healthy with rice and lentils.. I wasn’t expecting an empty ‘pancake’. Presumably it was made from rice and lentils. The sauce was watery and spicy and I wasn’t sure how to eat it. The dosa was a little greasy for my liking. I managed to eat it all and it was tasty. The dips were a bit different too, there was a peanut one and coconut one which was nice. It was pretty hot for me on a hot day and I’d ordered mild. I took some of his beer. Overall it was an experience as I haven’t had dosa before. He had a chickpea curry which seemed more of a proper main course and it was a huge portion of chickpeas. I watched a family eating a dosa after we had finished. It looked ideal as a communal dish. Maybe alongside another dish or as a starter. I would definitely try here again. There are quite a few items marked as vegan. Price was reasonable and popadoms and dips were served on arrival which were all naturally vegan which was a bonus, no yoghurt dip to send back. Serves beer.

Dosa of savoury pancakes - Edit
RIP the Nepalese restaurant that used to be here, but long live the south Indian cuisine being served here now.
Read moreAs a nod to the previous establishment, they offer the delicious veggie momos that I could eat for 3 meals a day and not tire of.
The menu here is extensive, and it clearly lists what is vegan, mainly on the section labelled "south Indian cuisine".
I had never tried a Dosa so I went straight to this section.
I got a Mysore Dosa with my bro heading for a paneer one, with momos and masala chips on the side.
The dosa comes with a little pot of sauce for you to coat or dip it in, there's loads so I would dip.
The flavours were wonderful. Especially the pancake itself, it's taste is a very well balanced and robust savoury profile, with the texture being firm and crunchy.
Inside I got a potato curry with chickpeas that was not spicy, despite fact I asked for it to be spicy but again I'm very experienced at spice, so use your own judgement.
All of it was well cooked and fairly delicious, and whilst we waited we were given poppadoms.
This is how you do it right. Quick service, tasty, clear menu and delicious but not too filling.
I will definitely be back.
Pros: Dosas, Clear menu, Quick

Great indian restaurant in botanic - Edit
Bites of india was great and offered many cool street food vegan dishes you don’t see in other indian restaurants, including pani puri and dosas. Their menu is clearly labelled and their prices were very good for the amount of food we ordered. Will definitely be back!
