Awesome lunch in the city! - Edit
Lunch was super tasty! You can make it a light lunch or a huge feast, because the lunch includes a salad buffet, soup and dessert. I ate too much because I wanted to try everything 😅

My first time visiting, together with a family member. I had heard Papu&Pata used to be fully vegan but isn't anymore. They still offered vegan versions of all of their dishes at their ala carte menu. They have clear website with menus also in English.

Pickled vegetables, yellow pea croquettes (falafels) & mint yoghurt dip, oyster mushroom wings & jalapeno dip, appetizer size chanterelle orzo pasta.
Every choice was either already vegan or veganised on request and imo they were all wonderful.
I'm bit bummed I didn't have time to try their lunch on this trip, I'm looking forward to it next time.

Tasty and affordable vegan lunch - Edit
The lunch menu is tasty and fully plant-based. Sadly, they’ve moved on to offer bovine milk in some of the a la carte alternatives, but it’s still a great place for vegans to eat. Lunch menu varies and may have something mimicking a carnist meal, but they tend to be delicious even for long time vegans. Today we had Tofu Schnitzel and a vegetable soup with textured pea protein (a Finnish soy chunk like product). Soup lunch 12 euros and the other options that also includes the soup, costs 14 euro (summer 2025).

Nice restaurant in the centrum - Edit
It used to be a vegan lunch spot in different spot of Tampere where I often ate. The current restaurant is a nice addition to the restaurants in Tampere city center. I've been there for lunch and eaten from the menu. The quality is good, but I would like a little more twist on the regular dishes. The restaurant is not a vegan/vegetarian restaurant, which is a shame.

I had a seitan kebab, the salad bar and beetroot soup were included in the price so it was very nice. Friendly staff and good location. I wish it was a 100% vegan place again, also on weekends 💜 #Veganuary

Great vegan lunch and dinner! - Edit
I've visited the new Bistro Papu & Pata a few times for lunch and dinner. I really love the place and food! For lunch I've had lasagne and tomatopesto pasta (among other great dishes), but there's usually always also a soup and salad option. It's also possible to get a take away lunch. If you want great vegan food, this is the place to go!

They were one of my favourite resturants at the old location where they had an all-vegan buffet.
Read moreMoving to a new location and after concept change to bistro they have now started selling chicken, norwegian salmon and pork sausages on weekends. Definately not a Vegetarian restaurant like stated on Happy Cow listing.
I'm very disappointed even their lunch is still vegan on weekdays.

Three lunch options to choose from daily: soup, salad, or one main course. Portions are pretty small, but a modest salad bar with bread and coffee/tea is included. Food nothing fancy, more like home-cooking. Service not very welcoming. Evening menu includes meat and dairy as of August, so not a vegan/vegetarian restaurant anymore.

In their new concept Papu &Pata offers a changing lunch menu on the weekdays and on friday night and saturdays (all day) they have an a la carte menu with small dishes to combine.
Read moreWe tried the fully vegan a la carte menu, and everything sounded so delicious that it was difficult to decide what to order! We had six dishes plus desserts to share with the two of us. Our favorites were the carrot lox, roasted potatoes, and caesar salad. Also the french toast dessert was lovely.
Our only critique is that altogether many of the dishes were quite acidic, and the desserts felt slightly overpriced. But the service was friendly and all in all, we enjoyed the food a lot. Fresh ingredients and good flavors! Warm recommendation!

By far the best buffet my partner and i have tried. Everything is vegan, plenty of gluten free options. The food was tasty, fresh and well seasoned. The value for the price point is also great and cheaper than most non-vegan buffets, and you arent stuck eating a non-filling meal with no substantial protein source. Plus, if you only want salad and soup or just soup, you can pay less. We were too full to try a dessert but the pastries and kiisseli looked delicious. If we lived in Tampere we would eat here all the time.

I love this restaurant! You can either choose the salad menu (includes the salad buffet, bread with different spreads, soup, dessert and tea or coffee) or the main menu. The main menu includes everything the salad menu does plus a couple of warm dishes.
Read moreEverything is very tasty and I especially love the garlic spread they have for the bread. After the awesome lunch / early dinner you get to have a dessert with a warm drink. Could it be more perfect? The staff is friendly, too. You can also buy buns, cinnamon rolls, pieces of cake etc to go. Everything is clearly marked and the buns and rolls are always vegan.
In December 2018 salad menu 9e and main menu 10,90e.
