Good but Pricey

A simple Indian restaurant with several veg options. Overall the food is tasty, though greasy, if you don’t come in with expectations. As usual, the prices for Indian food are a bit higher than other restaurants.

Vegan Chana Masala

I asked twice, if they have vegan options and if they use Ghee. The waitress asked the cook and he said, they use butter. But he can do it without butter. So I tried it. But not sure, if they really understood me, what I wanted. So hopefully all was vegan...
The Naan bread is made with milk.
The bread, they serve with the chana Masala is vegan, but soaked in oil.

Best vegan food in El Nido!

El Nido is a town that has been hard-hit by the pandemic - there used to be no shortage of vegan options, but since the pandemic most vegan-friendly establishments have shut down or significantly reduced their vegan options. Taste is a good option for vegan breakfast, but we had a hard time finding good vegan dinner options.

That's why we were so happy to find this Indian restaurant - albeit on our last night. They have a selection of vegetarian dishes, all of which can be made vegan **if you ask to omit the ghee**. I particularly enjoyed their lentil daal - that was super delicious, flavored perfectly with spices. And the vegetable biryani was great as well, served with a coconut chutney which perfectly balanced the other flavors.

Beside your lentil daal or chana masala, you can get rice, or you can get a large selection of vegan breads. They offer roti, puri, chapati - all of these breads are delicious and quite different! In the US at least it is rare for Indian restaurants to have even one vegan bread, so to have three is really amazing in a place like this.

The atmosphere is nice too - the walls are covered in murals and it's a great place for conversation.

Highly recommended. I wish we had found this place earlier!

Pros: Numberous vegan bread options, Huge servings , Delicious Indian Food

Cons: Have to specify no Ghee, Water is not mineralized - bring your own!
