CLOSED: BioMarkt

It no longer exists. In the same location there's now a mini ekoplaza (chain store for organic/ecological products). Very sad to see the biomarkt go. :(

BioMarkt had such a large range of products, only organic, at reasonable prices. We were able to buy the Booja-Booja ice-cream here and were delighted! Also at a good location.

This is a great grocery store. The manager has been a vegan for over 30 years and they typically carry a wide array of vegan items that are hard to find elsewhere in Amsterdam such as Nutritional Yeast (Edelgist), Wild Rice, and Vegan cheese (Soy free), superfoods, and beauty products. They also have a wonderful selection of nuts and breads.

The produce section is quite large and varied also.

Overall, I have been impressed with the vegan products that are available in Amsterdam, but this is the best market that I've found so far.

Really useful shop - they also sell vegan seitan rolls and tofu rolls ("broodjes" - make sure you get the vegan ones though - there's also non-vegan seitan rolls). It's a good place to stock up for a picnic lunch.

There's lots of other vegan stuff in there too, it's a pretty big health-food shop, and includes a fridge section with tofu weiners (hot dogs) and spring rolls amongst other stuff.

Try the vegan stroopwaffels (round waffles with syrup inside) - I became addicted to these beauties!

This store has a very good selection of vegan items and the prices are OK. They also have vegan ice-cream and vegan syrup waffles (+lots of other vegan stuff). :p Definitely worth visiting.

BioMarkt was a lifesaver. Lots of clearly marked vegan items. Good location. I love this place.

Saw this supermarket while on the tram heading down to Albert Cuyp and dropped by on the way back. Wide selection of groceries, they even carry vegan syrup waffles, perfect if you want to try these traditional Dutch snacks but having problems finding vegan ones. Particularly impressed by the baked goods section, very nice looking breads and mouth-watering pies/quiches (not sure if vegan though). Definitely worth checking out!

We stopped in here at least 3 times during the week. One time I said we had to go check out a Naturwinkel and it wasn't as good, but nearly the same. However, BioMarkt has a great prepared foods/bread area with items that the Macro Biotic institute right up the street prepares, such as vegan hand rolls.
