Been there - Edit
I have visited Bioalternativa just today.
The food looked good, they had labels about what products contain gluten. The price was about R$ 59,9/kg for workdays and 64,9/kg during the weekend.
They dont have organic soya so it is most likely genetically modified.

Great Brazilian food without worrying what's in it - Edit
I wanted to try as much Brazilian food as I could on this trip but I was always a little hesitant even if it said "no meat" "no fish" so it was great to find Bio Alternativa and be able to enjoy good food without guilt. Since it's a fixed price buffet (not pay per kilo) I tried absolutely everything I fancied... then went back for more! Really enjoyable. If you go to one SP VG/V restaurant, make it here.
Pros: V close to Paulista, Great selection and quality, Fixed price
Cons: restricted opening hours

There are far better nearby - Edit
I returned here after four years of regular visits to Sao Paulo, and trying out many of the places listed here on HappyCow. It's now R$31 which is the most expensive of all of them, and it's the most disappointing too. Boring options, some inedible, and not even free tap water - you need to buy all drinks. You have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options close by - not to mention lots of options in the Shopping 3 mall - so there's no need to bother with this one any more.
The closest veggie place to Paulista Avenue's Consolocau subway station. Not sold by-weight, rather all-you-can-eat for R$23. Food was decent, different to other nearby veggie places, and worth a look. I think the best of the bunch though is Apfel, and it's only two blocks from here.

Pros: location
Cons: weekday lunchtimes only, not the best around, optimistically priced for what it is

excellent - Edit
I ended up eating here for lunch almost every day - the menu changed daily - the selection of food always interesting, diverse, very fresh and very very clean, lots of different flavours in their dishes. Buffet (ALL you can eat)was 18 Real. There is a good health food shop across the road. The only disappointment was the juice -it's not their speciality (but there is an EXCELLENT juice bar around the corner on Paulista).
Pros: excellent food, fresh, healthy, diverse, great bookshop just on the next block
Cons: juices not great, no desserts
