Wrong night? - Edit
The waiter was really good, welcoming and helpful, but after being yelled at from the kitchen a number of times by a man we guessed to be the proprietor service went downhill. The poor chef bore the brunt of it however. We decided to skip dessert and get the bill instead. Reasonable prices and the food was pretty good.

Vegan Bonanza!!! - Edit
Had a lovely vegan meal made from predominantly organically sourced produce or local producers who grow food in an organic way but do not yet have certification. Food was very tasty and fresh together with a variety of choice organic wines made for a most delightful evening indeed.

best lasagne I have ever had - Edit
I had the pleasure of eating here in April and again in November ( came back twice this visit). They make the best asparagus lasagne I have ever tasted in April and the artichoke lasagne in November did not disappoint. The owner could not have been more accomodating or welcoming. I look forward to a return visit when next in Venice. Delicious food!!!

One star, if that... - Edit
We visited this restaurant recently when staying nearby. I was really looking forward to going somewhere with plenty of choice for vegans. Perhaps we caught the owner on a bad night but he was not pleasant, helpful or friendly. The menu is set out on a big board and is in Italian. He was not keen on helping us to understand it but we muddled through and ordered. Later I overheard his conversation with a young Chinese couple and he wasn't just unhelpful but plain rude, banging things down on the table and talking loudly in a patronising manner. When the food arrived it was bland and tasteless. I had a mound of black rice with a few vegetables in it and it was boring. Definitely not what you would expect for the price. I wouldn't have dared complain about it - who knows how the owner would have reacted - and we left as soon as we could. I have never had to write a really negative review before, there's usually something that redeems a place, but here - NOTHING.

worth the trip to lido!! - Edit
The orecchiette bolognese was possibly the best pasta dish I've ever had. Also had an excellent seitan dish, and a chocolate lemon cake that was less exciting. The owner spoke great English and was very friendly.

Worth a trip to Lido - Edit
Others have noted that you might need reservations, but I found it was nearly empty for lunch shortly after opening in early July. It was fine to stop in and grab a table solo at that time. Welcoming staff. Almost all vegan (why not just go 100%?). Delicious food.

great place to eat in Venice - Edit
The restaurant was luckily just near our accomodation, in Lido and we went 3 times during our stay in Venice.

We will definetely go again on our next visit to Venice, and advise it to our friends!

A very lovely meal - Edit
This place has a lovely set up and atmosphere. Because of the name I expected something more casual but it was a very nice place for dinner. there's about 4 starters and maybe 15 mains and only 2 are not vegan. I had oricchiette with tomato, olive and rocket and it was lovely. For starters had the bruschetta and tofu crostini. Vanilla and chocolate cake for dessert. All were very good.

Must visit if in Venice! - Edit
cool Vegetarian restaurant with plenty of vegan options. The owner and servers knew what was vegan which is pretty much everything bar a couple of dishes (linguine and burger I think). I highly recommend booking and going here for a nice dinner. They had some great wine too. we had the bruschetta, tofu crostini for starters and orchiette pasta with pesto for mains. I liked everything!

Empfehlenswert !

A great find on the Lido - Edit
I found this place online and, seeing it had good reviews, decided to go. Lots of options and in a quiet area near the Vaporetto stop. I enjoyed the tofu scramble with asparagus, the special of the day.

Simply Wonderful! - Edit
When we arrived at this place it was full, however the owner kindly told us to return in half an hour and he would have a spot for us. We did this and only had to wait a few minutes upon returning before he seated us. The menu is brought to your table on a black board and as Mum and I couldn't read the it, the owner was very helpful in telling us what everything was. He even made a recommendation for the starter ( a sort of mixed plate) which turned out to be delicious! I had lentil curry for the main which was absolutely delicious as was the $3.50 house wine. For dessert we shared a piece of choc vanilla cake which was nice but a little dry, would have gone well with vegan ice-cream! We had to catch a taxi boat from old venice, however the trip was quite lovely and the restaurant was only a 2 minute walk from the dock. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Venice! The only good food we had there during our stay.

Truly impressed - Edit
We were a bit skeptical about this place given its name, but since vegan options are pretty rare in Venice and the reviews on HappyCow were nice, we decided to give it a try.
Read moreWe took place outside on the quite large, shaded terrace at the front of the restaurant. Davide, the owner who speaks English very well, brought us the menu on chalkboards. He was very patient while explaining almost every item on the menu as we were not familiar with Italian food names and descriptions. He also told us that everything they serve is made from scratch.
To our pleasure, only the lasagna and fettucini were not vegan. I opted for the Polpette Di Soia Con Salsa Di Cipolla Di Tropea in Agrodolce (soya balls with sweet onion sauce), while my husband had the Fagioli Mex In Salsa Chili Con Uso Basmati (black beans in a chilli sauce with basmati rice).
While waiting for our meals, Davide brought us a basket of fresh, delicious bread and breadsticks. The bread alone was worth a visit! Then came our plates. I was first disappointed by the look of my meal: a few soya balls on shredded lettuce with a small bowl of sauce in the middle. I thought there was no way this could be fulfilling. I was so wrong and it was one of the best meal I had in Italy, mixing the freshness of the lettuce with the softness of the balls and the sweet taste of the sauce. My husband loved the beans as well, even though it was a bit too salty for his taste. The portions were large enough, but the dessert portions were quite small for the price.
Overall, a lovely place with delicious food at a fairly reasonable price for Venice.
We’d return in a heartbeat.
Pros: conveniently located close to the vapore, no cover charge, no fried food
Cons: dessert portion small for the price, only a few tables inside

Extremely High Quality Vegetarian & Vegan Food - Edit
We ate here for lunch today and were very impressed. The quality of our brushetta was very high, and the lasagna we both ordered was among the best we have ever eaten. Davide, the proprietor, is lovely and speaks English which is a help for those of us not fluent in Italian. When I inquired about a dry, organic red wine, he brought me a glass of a lovely wine that fit my requirements PLUS had no sulfites. We heartily recommend this restaurant as food- and service-wise it is among the very best vegetarian restaurants we have ever eaten. It is a very short walk from the water taxi in Lido. Also, the bathroom was very clean which is always the mark of a restaurant that cares about the details! Enjoy!

Best restaurant near Venice! - Edit
Venice has some nice veg-friendly restaurants overall, but this is the only full vegetarian (almost vegan) restaurant we found.
Read moreWe went during their evening opening time, really nice atmosphere (try to get a reservation beforehand if you know when you will eat, it's quite popular). The menu is really big (and is like 80-90% vegan), and the server is really helpful explaining everything, dish by dish if you want to.
The server heavily recommended the appetizer pies, and we choose the mixed appetizer plate, and the broccoli and potato pie. I usually don't care to much for pie, but the pie was the best pie I've ever had, really moist and just delicious. The falafel from the mixed plate was great too. For main course I choose the Lasagna and my fiancée choose the veg-burger. Both was delicious (The broccoli pie was the highlight of the meal though!).
The price is reasonable (also no cover charge) and it's what you pay for all restaurants if you go out in Venice, and for this quality is super worth it.
Too bad we went on our last vacation day, else we would have easily returned, but if we go to Venice again we will most certainly eat here again!
Pros: Extremely good food, Super friendly staff, Nice location, not far from the bussboat
Cons: none

lovely lunch - Edit
As Venice does not have a full veggie restaurant, we made a point of coming to Lido to eat here. It's an easy vaporetto ride and the restaurant is steps from the station. We were the first lunch customers and the waiter showed us the daily menu on a chalkboard. He said it's all veggie with more than 80% vegan. He was very helpful in explaining the menu and we started with the bruschetta, mixing the two types available. For entrees, we got the seitan with lemon caper sauce and the grilled tofu. The seitan was excellent. We tried two different types of cake for dessert, the peach cinnamon and chocolate. We sat outside and the weather was very nice too. Overall, we had a lovely meal and it's worth the trip from Venice. It was more reasonably priced with no coperto (cover charge) too.

Wonderful place - must go! - Edit
This is a wonderful Bistrot on the island of Lido. All organic, and the menu is almost totally vegan (a couple vegetarian items that staff can easily point out). The owner and staff are super friendly and the environment is very welcoming and informal, yet nice. I had black bean tacos (the best I've had anywhere), salad, tofu crumble, juice, ginger-carrot cake, and espresso. Definitely worth the journey from Venice, even if you hadn't planned on going to Lido...but on that note, check out Lido, it's amazing! I'll definitely be coming back to Bio Sound System, and in fact plan to stay on Lido (rather than in Venice) next time I'm in the area, just to be sure I can easily get to this restaurant often!

Lucky find - amazing food! - Edit
While on Lido island, we decided to get lunch before heading back to the main island. We walked around a bit, checking out the cafes and sandwich shops, finding the normal selection of pasta/salad most Italian restaurants had. Nothing sounded good, so we turned down a smaller street hoping to find a few other options. There was only one cafe that direction, so we decided to see what they offered. While looking at the menu board, our conversation went something like this: E: "Does that say tofu? That says tofu!" R: "Seitan? They have seitan!" Looking over at the entrance of the restaurant, "It's a vegan/vegetarian place!"
Read moreAmazingly, we had stumbled upon the only dedicated vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Venice. It has only been open for 75 days, and clearly, it was fate that we found it.
The food was fresh and delicious, full of flavor. We chose to have the chef send out favorite dishes to us and we were thrilled with the offerings. The staff was friendly and courteous. Highly, highly recommended!
