Amazing falafel!

I ordered the white bean falafel with fries and omg it was delicious!! Next time I might ask for the spicy sauce on the side as I don't handle spice well but other than that it was perfect! My husband ordered the vegan pizza and also loved it. Friendly service too!

Pros: friendly service, nice patio, delicious food

Cons: pricey

great! very accommodating

though it’s not a vegan restaurant, they were very accommodating to making vegan alternatives which was awesome. i got the mediterranean pizza swapped with vegan cheese, vegan poutine, and the white bean hummus platter. also had vegan carrot cake which was great but a bit too sweet tasting for my liking. great option!

The tofu au vin is one of my best meals in recent memory. Also thoroughly enjoyed the poutine.

Big Slide does a great job maintaining multiple vegan options on their menu as it changes based on seasonal availability. They normally have a vegan sandwich, pizza, and entree option, and now even dessert! At the time of this review they had a pulled jackfruit pita sandwich, Korean BBQ “chicken” pizza, and tofu au vin, plus carrot cake. Excellent beer with friendly service and awesome food. You can’t make reservations but can join the waitlist via their website prior to arrival to avoid waiting for a table.

Pros: Clearly labeled vegan options, Menu changes, Excellent beer

Good service, terrible vegan entrees

It's a cute place but the vegan options were not good at all. My husband had the Tofu Au vin. It was like they took a block or two of tofu, sliced it in thirds, threw in sauteed vegetables and smothered the hell out of it with a brown salty sauce. You couldn't really tell from looking what vegetables were in there because of the amount of sauce. He took a few bites and was done.
I ordered the vegan Korean bbq pizza. It wasn't good at all. I had a slice thinking it would get better and I was SO hungry. My husband tasted it and spit his bite into his napkin.
They took off the cost of one meal.
A no-go if you eat a vegan diet.

Great place

We liked this place very much. There are few vegan options around Lake Placid and this was the best in our experience. The pizza was very good. One of us is also gluten free and all the sandwiches and pizzas can be GF, which is huge for us. The server was super helpful pointing out what could be vegan and GF beyond the obvious. Good, house brewed beers (the porter is excellent). The place was hopping and there was a bit of a wait as they do not take reservations but you can hang out at the bar with a beer or mocktail for the kids.

Holly crap it’s good

2 vegan options 1 vegan desert…. But worth it. We had the vegan pizza and a pita, both were full of flavour and so good. The chefs here are super talented. We didn’t have room for dessert, but if the main dishes are any indication of how the dessert would have been I can guarantee it would have been great!

Pros: Great food

Cons: 3 vegan options

Vegan thai bbq pizza was DANK

Did not expect such a good little pie from a place up here, where vegan options are relatively few and far between. This is the place to go post-hike or if you’re about to have a long drive back downstate. Several cool-looking in-house beers on tap (will be back to try some). More importantly, the vegan pizza on the menu was delicious — and the pickled shishito appetizer was great too. I do wish there were one or two more veg options but regardless this is gonna become a regular spot of ours!

Rotating Menu

I love Big Slide, but you need to check their most current menu before heading there. Sometimes there's only one vegan option. Lately brunch hasn't offered much at all for vegan fare. Their Instagram is a great way to keep in the know.

Yummy pizza

Came here for some drinks and dinner on my last trip to the mountains and had the vegan buffalo pizza and it was super delicious! Would recommend if you’re looking for a place not directly in the center of Lake Placid.

Get the vegan buff chicken pizza

Made the 45 min drive from Tupper Lake and Big Slide did not disappoint. The vegan Buffalo chicken pizza is great and tried their seltzer when I was waiting for it. Definitely recommend this place!

Pros: Good pizza , Nice atmosphere

Tasty & friendly staff

We really enjoyed our dinner here. Got the buffalo vegan chix pizza and almost all their other pizza’s can be made vegan which we did for the mushroom one. We also orders the vegan carrot cake but I forgot to take a photo before we ate it! The food was a bit heavy and greasy but a nice option for the area that doesn’t have a ton of options.

Excellent pizza

Mostly a carnist restaurant, but at least had some great vegan options. The buffalo “chicken” pizza was shockingly good. A non-vegan friend who got it said she thought it was still one of the best pizzas she ever had. Definitely recommend that if you go.

Also, contrary to the old emails Barnivore has from Big Slide, it looks like all their beers (except one, “Giant DIPA”) are now vegan!

Pros: Amazing vegan pizza, Most beers are vegan

Amazing buffalo "chicken" pizza

The buffalo chicken pizza was 🔥. They didn't have a ton of vegan options, but what they had was great, and it was clearly marked on the menu. The waitress we had is vegetarian, so she was very understanding, and told us that while there are no vegan desserts yet, there will be a vegan carrot cake coming soon. So it sounds like they're working on improving their vegan options!

Not your average vegan options

A few very well thought out vegan options, that vegans and non-vegans can both indulge in. Beautiful atmosphere, nice indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly, for outdoor dining. New seasonally menu coming out soon, can’t wait to try.

Pros: Helpful staff

GREAT Vegan Buffalo Pizza!!

Big Slide is a favorite of ours when we come into Lake Placid, especially on IRONMAN weekend since it's right on the bike/run courses.

I love that they have clearly-labeled vegan and vegetarian options. This makes it a great place to go with groups, since there's something for everyone.

The Vegan Buffalo Chicken Pizza FAR exceeded my expectations and was SO delicious. I ordered it twice over IRONMAN weekend...it was that good.

Pros: Clearly labeled vegan options

Nice atmosphere

Vegan Buffalo chicken wing pizza was tasty, but vegan “impastable” pasta entree with nondairy cream sauce had lame vegan sausage crumbles.

Few, but very well done, vegan options

There are only a few vegan options on the menu (plus more that are vegetarian), but those that exist are clearly marked and done extremely well. Staff is well-versed and attentive to dietary needs. Vegan pizza option (Buffalo chicken) was absolutely phenomenal, and as a bonus, their GF crust is also vegan. Would happily have gone back the following night, but tried Lake Placid Brewery (same owners, I believe, and also good options)

Beyond expectations

Clearly labeled vegan options with QR code on menu to scan to view allergens and ways to modify menu options to make them vegan. Friendly service and nice atmosphere for a brewery and restaurant in the Lake Placid area.

Pros: Clearly labeled vegan options, Good tasting food

Cons: It gets busy, but not a long wait

Brewery with Vegan Options

With not many restaurants in the area having vegan menu options, Big Slide’s got you covered 🙌🏽🙌🏿

The menu provides several vegan options- a pizza, salad, noodle and/or rice dish, and an appetizer if you’re lucky- that change seasonally.

Servers are friendly and knowledgeable, but will refer to the chef if unsure.

Great local beer- try the Maui sour if you’re in to sour beer,
it’s delish 👍🏽🍻

Pros: Vegan options, Friendly staff, Good beer

Cons: Take out not available if there is a long wait

Vegan options

They have one vegan option. Vegetables on a pizza. Would’ve loved to see the other stuff I saw on happy cow. I did Veganize one salad. The staff was VERY accommodating and on their feet about what to leave out. Great staff. Good beer, wish they offered more vegan.

Great vegan options

Stocks and beyond burger can be made vegan with no cheese and a gluten free bun, fancy hummus plate, and “lousy hunter” pizza are both vegan. All very tasty and I eat here quite often. Great waffle fries with the burger 😋

Pros: A few vegan options

Cons: All staff doesn’t seem to be educated on veganism, Menu does not differentiate vegan and vegetarian

Not cashew cheese....

Got the Lousy Hunter pizza. It would have been good if it weren’t for the “cashew cheese”. It wasn’t a cashew cheese, it was literally crushed up cashews they sprinkled all over the pizza. It was just weird and ruined the pizza. If it wasn’t on there it would have been a decent pizza.

Pros: Vegan option , Nice ambience

Cons: Slow service, Crushed nuts is not a nut cheese

We're staying in Lake Placid for only 2 nights but decided to just come here for dinner both nights. We love the food. We each ordered our own pizza. The pizza is just enough for 1 person. Remember v here stands for vegetarian. So please check the ingredients and speak to your server about your need. They can substitute the dairy cheese with cashew cheese. Regarding the beer served here, some has lactose, so just stay away from those.

Pros: Happening, Nice food

Cons: Chaotic
