Jackfruit VeGansl - Edit
Bierosophie is a neat little tavern with quite a few vegan options on offer. We came there specifically for the jackfruit-vased VeGansl, the plantbased version of the seasonal roasted goose dish ('Martinigansl'). This dish was well seasoned, the sauce and side dishes appropriately traditional. The consistency was (due to being jackfruit) a little rather tender, but ok. All in all, not my favourite Vegansl in the city - but the practical advantage here is that at Bierosophie, you can go there with omnivores and they can eat the meat Gansl.
Read moreService was at times - in old school Viennese fashion - rather gruff. Bierosophie can get quite busy and they might try to rush you out at sone point (we did get the last table, I have to note).
Lots of outside seating available in the warmer seasons, with a little sandbox for kids.

Uns wurde das Lokal empfohlen, als wir nach veganen Optionen und lokaler Küche gesucht hatten. Ich hatte die vegane Martins-Gans Variante (auf Jackfruchtbasis) und am Nachspeise Waffel mit Eis. Beides war sehr gut. Angenehme Atmosphäre. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder einkehren.

Ich habe das Restaurant vor ein paar Tagen hier entdeckt und dachte super für mich (Veganerin) und meine nicht veganer Freunde/Familie. Es gibt sehr viel Vegane Auswahl da war ich begeistert und ich hatte den Soja Zwiebelrostbraten und der war sehr lecker. Meine Mutter die nicht Veganerin ist hatte es auch probiert und merkte keinen Unterschied zu dem mit Fleisch. 🙂 Kann ich Weiterempfehlen!

The people of Vienna have the name to be grumpy, but that cannot be said for the staff of Bierosophie. Very friendly, and it is well known for their local food. The nices thing is that they have quite some choice in vegan/veganised local dishes.

i‘ve never had such a delicious jack menu. it melted in my mouth! you need to try their Vegansl, before it‘s too late!! it comes with potato dumplings and red apple cabbage.

The restaurant is very lovely. They offer a lot of clearly labelled Austrian food, e.g. vegan roast. Also, there is a great variety of beer. In summer, the beer garden is a great place to stay.

They have a good variety of vegan dishes. I really love the vegan onion roast and the minced meat patties. Also the garden is very beautiful to sit in summer. They also offer saisonal dishes and some of them are vegan, that is also pretty nice. Also a good option to go there with your non vegan family.

We came to try veganized Austrian specialities and haven't been disappointed. There's a broad choice of vegan dishes to choose from and servings are big enough to fill a hungry stomach, but don't really come on the cheap side - calculate with 16-18€ for a main and 6-8€ for each starter, side and dessert . The food was generally really tasty, although the onion roast patty lacked a bit of salt in my opinion. No problem though, as salt&pepper are on the table.

I was surprised at the amount of vegan options they have and had actually a hard time making a decision. ^^ I went for the jackfruit „Knödel“ which had a very strong taste that I unfortunately didn‘t enjoy that much. For dessert I had the „Mohnnudeln“ and I loved them. Also the staff was very nice. They prepare their jackfruits themselves - they get a delivery of raw jackfruit weekley and do the rest themselves.

They have a lot of vegan options on their menu, mostly jackfruit based meat replacement. The idea is nice and the food sounds great. I unfortunately didn't have a great experience with my jackfruit patty. It was so overcooked that it tasted like mashed potatoes.. so I only ate half of it. We did get a 30% discount when we pointed it out, so they were quite nice about it.

Very nice “Biergarten” with a bit of vegan touch! You can try Austrian cuisine with meat substitutes. I tried “Flammkuchen” with jackfruit and it was very delicious! Several main courses in “normal” and vegan versions and very nice atmosphere.

Wow, I am very pleasantly surprised. Once you go in you will see a big nice garden to sit. The staff is very friendly and the food we tried was amazing! traditional austrian cuisine in vegan is not something you find everyday, especially in a traditional austrian restaurant. And it was soooooo goood!!!!! I absolutely recommend this place, it was a very nice experience.

We were really happy with this place. I had a vegan pork stake with dumplings and coleslaw and a brownie with icecream for the dessert. Everything was very tasty and of the same quality as non vegan dishes. The prices were good for this quality. The staff were also incredibly nice.
