The Tropical Vegan arepa was so tasty. It came with a white sauce, I went back up to the counter and verified that it was vegan. The black beans were so flavorful, I could have eaten just those!!

Delicious Fresh Flavors - Edit
The menu offers a wonderful arepa named the Tropical Vegan. It is a corn meal stuffed sandwich full of seasoned black beans, marinated tofu and of course the wonderful sweet plantains.

Authentic Venezuelan restaurant in busy downtown Chicago Loop location, close to the Art Institute. (There is another location on the North side, this review is for Loop location.) They have a couple of vegan options: an arepa and a bowl. The portions are huge - I ate half of my bowl which was brown rice (or white), black beans, plantains, and guasacasa (Venezuelan version of guacamole) plus a very good hot sauce on the side, if you want. Next time I will try the arepa, which also looked fabulous. The foods were cooked well (not overcooked/mush), the flavors were excellent, and it's a good value for the amount of food you get!
