CLOSED: Bibbi's Cafe

I've been to Bibi's a couple of times, it's always been good and the people there are friendly and in spite of the time between visits they remembered me and struck up conversation. Their vegan desserts are awesome especially the brownies, but today I had their vegan bakewell tart and it was amazing! I highly recommend this place as their vegan options are spot on, the prices are very reasonable, the staff are really friendly and the food is healthy as well!

I decided to try this café on my trip to Lancaster today instead of my usual visit to "The Whale Tail"(although I did call into the wonderful "Single Step Wholefoods" to stock up on essentials!. The café is small but has a very friendly feel. The menu today consisted of mushroom soup and 7 sandwich choices, 2 of which are vegan. I had the soup, a hummus and roast vegetable sandwich and a pot of tea that was actually loose leaf - wonderful!!! There was also a vegan choice of cakes. The soup was delicious and the sandwich very tasty, but I think the menu was very limited.

what's great about this cafe is that it just presents vegan as normal. There's no outdoor sign declaring 'Veggie - Hippies Welcome' and you can assume that the savoury is vegan, unless obviously not, eg cheese sandwich. The prices are ridiculously good value, cheaper than a takeout from Tesco. The service is very familiar and you quickly become a regular.

I'm not vegan, or even vegetarian, and sometimes when eating food in vegetarian cafes I can really taste the difference - but not here. I would defy anyone to know the cakes here are vegan - they are as gooey and sumptuous as anything I've eaten made with dairy. The food here, mains as well as cakes etc., is a brilliant advert for vegetarian cooking and really shows how delicious food can be without meat. I'm not sure I'll ever give up meat (sorry) but when food is this good it does make me wonder why not. Sadly I was only in Lancaster for a brief visit or I'd be eating at Bibbi's regularly - but I'm certain I'll be there whenever I'm in town

A fabulous new addition to the veggie eatery selection in Lancaster. A warm and cosy cafe, with friendly, accommodating staff and an excellent selection for vegans. Delicious soups, stews and salads available but for me the vegan cake wins the highest praise. If there us ginger cake available I urge you to try it.

Great to have so much choice as a vegan in Lancaster. Next door to Filberts Bakery (and run by the previous owner of the bakery) we had a delicious vegetable stew with dumplings for just £3.95 each. There were two vegan choices for cake - pistachio fudge brownies and raspberry cup cakes, but I was too full to try either. The atmosphere, including music is 40's style, and as far as I know they're open daytime Tues-Sat.
