We had diner in this place last year and we were very excited to go back here.
Read moreUnfortunately the menu has changed a lot. Many dishes are now vegetarian and sometimes vegan options even cost extra.
The food we ordered was still very nice, but we couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed in the new setup which is a huge step backwards.

Disappointing shift back to non-vegan - Edit
Bhalu used to be a fully vegan restaurant, making it a great and worry-free place to eat. Unfortunately, they now reintroduced animal products to the menu, including cow's milk and cheese. This is not only a huge step backward, but also something they are presenting as a positive change on their social media. Very disappointing.

We had the carrot wrap, smoothie bowl, and vegan tuna salad (on lettuce not as a wrap). Everything was so good and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

My non-vegan friend and I went to Bhalu for dinner. She had a burger and I had risotto, definitely recommend it! The food was amazing and the drinks were super nice and creative. The staff was friendly and the general atmosphere was very relaxed.

It seems that this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a cafe. I ordered a tofu scramble sandwich and received a hot dog bun with raw, sweet tofu and two stalks of asparagus inside. The asparagus was undercooked and almost impossible to chew. The whole dish was sloppy, tasteless, sour, and cold.

I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Heerlijk geluncht bij Bhalu. Ik was verrast door de smakencombinatie van de Asperge tofu scramble. Zeker een aanrader. Het was warm, maar doordat ze de schuifdeuren aan de straatkant hadden opengezet was het binnen zeker aangenaam.

Vriendelijke mensen, rustige sfeer en bovenal erg lekker eten. Ik had een gegrilde pastinaak en hoewel ik bezorgd was of het niet saai ging zijn was het heel erg lekker! Als toetjes een lekkere chocoladetaart gehad, zeker aan te raden.

Staff is generally very friendly but food has been disappointing.
Today we had the smoothie bowl and sandwich with scrambled tofu.
The bowl was okay, but the topping tasted like sugary cookies which gave a nice crush but made me wonder about added sugars. The portion could have been a bit larger to be a full breakfast.
The scrambled tofu was served with 2 slices of bread. The tofu was quite abundant but somewhat flavourless, only with a weird after taste. My housemate makes better scrambled tofu honestly ;)
All in all a bit underwhelming, we have had the same experience before.
Cool to have loose leaf tea in a cool serving tea pot. Raspberry leaf tea was flavourful.

We were here for our breakfast. They were open nice and early for a Sunday. I had the beetroot pancake, which tasted delicious. Good staff and nice ambiance. Definitely recommended.
