The name is confusing but the food is delicious - Edit
The menus were in bad shape (the lamination was degraded) and they were dirty, as was the floor of the restaurant. It was very dark inside because of the black walls and floor. My friend wanted to leave but I convinced her to stay since It was an all Vegan restaurant (and I always want to support those). There were quite a few things that sounded good on the menu. I asked what the most popular thing was and was told the Lions Maine Unchick Sandwich (it comes with a side salad). So we both ordered that and an order of Sweet Potato fries. He asked if I wanted water but didn’t tell me he was talking about bottled water. The tap water in this town is delicious and I don’t support plastic bottle use. I wondered why my $12 sandwich cost $14 plus change until he brought me the bottled water. I asked for my sandwich “to go” because I had planned to save half for later (that didn’t happen). I was thrilled that the take out container was a paper box. I was nervous that the fried mushrooms would be greasy, but they weren’t at all. They were on a very fresh potato roll with lettuce tomato and a generous helping of the most delicious mustard sauce I’ve ever had. It was a bit messy but worth it! The side salad was dressed with the same sauce. I wasn’t mad at it. The sweet potato fries were homemade and delicious. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The one order was the perfect amount to share $6. The texture of the Lions Mane was so reminiscent of chicken I was feeling guilty eating it! Needless to say, I ate the entire thing. I definitely recommend and would go back to try something else.

Healthy vegan food In Portsmouth - Edit
First time here and very impressed. Street parking is free, staff knowledgeable and friendly. After getting input from staff, I ordered the mushroom soup and Crab Cake sandwich (served with house salad), and I’m very happy that I did. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. The atmosphere is nice as well.

Catching a train in Norfolk made quick trip over had lions main fried shrooms , banana fries and vegan burger , homemade delicious felt great after eating I absolutely loved the decor , I would want to try more times as was so good !!

Chik’n n waffles are superb - Edit
First time I went, tried their vegan chik’n waffles (not the sandwich) and a salad with the vegan cheesecake. There was a bit of a wait but the server gave me another slice of cheesecake no charge. Real sweet of them to do that!

But the wait is long and the prices are high. I tried the chick'n and waffle sandwich, rice and beans wrap, banana fries and a smoothie. I love that they're trying to make a difference in the community they serve. Next I'd like to try the new "bar" they opened next door/attached. It's fully non-alcoholic which I've never seen before.

It’s amazing how vegans are so creative when making meals. In addition to being vegan, choosing mostly alkaline foods makes things even more restrictive. Eating here , showed me that an Alkaline diet does not have to be restrictive, you just have to be creative! The food at this place is pretty good and the owner and staff are so nice and knowledgeable about Dr Sebi and health tips

I couldn't eat the chick'n - Edit
I got the banana fries and got the chick'n & waffles sandwich. The first few bites were really delicious but then the texture of the chick'n ruined it for me. I couldn't take a bite without ripping strips off (there were very tough strings in it) of it and it make me think of eating the animal so much that I couldn't finish it. The banana fries were really good though. If I go back again I'd try something else.

Really fun environment, good vegan and heart friendly food. Awesone, appropriately attentive staff. The portions were generous enough to share and quite tasty. I was a ver ygood, 3 generation, blended family lunch. Everyone enjoyed theit meal.

Great banana fries! - Edit
I stopped here a few weeks ago while passing through the area, and I'll be coming back for sure! I got the jackfruit chicken salad sandwich and the banana fries, which were both delicious. Really good portion on the sandwich, and it came with a side salad too! Too bad I was trying to eat it in the car... I'll definitely have to take my time the next time I'm here. The chicken salad was packed with extras like grapes and nuts. I'm excited to try the chicken and waffle sandwich next, and they had a nice smoothie and juice selection too. I wasn't sure what to expect with the banana fries, I was thinking they'd be like maduros but they weren't sweet, and they actually tasted a lot like fries with a slight banana aftertaste. They were great dipped in a little ketchup!

I tried this place twice to give it a fair chance, but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. The first time I had the jackfruit pulled pork sandwich which had a lot of flavor, but the liquid smoke was quite noticeable above anything else. It left too much of that taste in my mouth. The second time I tried the chicken and waffle sandwich. I was prompt in picking up my order, but even after my 5 min drive home, the sandwich was super soggy and unappealing. I paid a lot for it, so I tried to eat what I could as not to waste it. Their “chicken” is made from oyster mushrooms which is a cool take on meat replacement, but the breading was soggy and not crispy like you’d expect “chicken” to be. The waffles were also spongy and tough (I think because you can only get them GF) and the whole sandwich fell apart while I ate it. I got peach cobbler too because I wanted something sweet, but I took two bites and couldn’t eat the rest. It was a texture thing again, not really appealing.

We ordered six entrees and it took an hour and 5 minutes for our order when it was extremely slow. We watched as eight different customers came in and got their food within five minutes from ordering. When we asked what was the hold up, we were told they forgot to put in our order and proceeded to just carry on as if it was our fault. Once I asked for a refund, they had my order ready in ten minutes. I'll never return.

Just picked up some takeout and my husband and I got the chicken waffle sandwich, burger, banana fries, and some chocolate cake. Everything was so good! And the portions are big, neither one of us could finish our sandwiches.
