Average - Edit
Nice owner and staff but the food we ordered was just average (paneer and kofta) - they were lacking some spices or more intense flavours. European prices - it tries to be some kind of luxurious restaurant but in fact is very simle.
Cons: Prices, Dished should have more character

Great, authentic Indian food, excellent service! - Edit
We loved this place! Very centrally located next to the Central Market. The staff were genuine, spoke excellent English and helpful when I required what was Vegan. Free filtered table water provided throughout the meal. Most of the curries were vegan too, the menu is very big so much choice, maybe a bit overwhelming. I had a samosa to start and a lentil dahl with a plain roti and some mushroom rice. All very tasty but ordered too much food. Reasonable prices too. If I come back to Phnom Penh I will definitely come here. Must try if you're in the area.

Indeed the 'Besto' - Edit
Taking the bus in from the Phnom Penh Airport is cheap but tiring, especially after two flights to get there. Luckily, once we got into town, we went here to eat. The owner was incredibly nice, making suggestions when it became clear that we were overwhelmed by the options on the menu.
The meal was great and afterwards I asked if he knew where we might be able to get cardamom as they don't have it where I live, I figured an Indian restaurant owner would know. He told me to come back in a few days.
A few days later, there was still no cardamom but he told me to hold on, made a phone call and a guy came whizzing up on a motorcycle with a bag in hand.
The point is, the owner really goes out of his way to help you out and the food is really good. It's worth the stop.
Pros: Incredibly nice owner, Great food
Cons: Food takes a while, but it's worth it.

So much good vegan food. - Edit
Delicious food on their Thali plates and they will let you know all of their vegan dishes if you just let them know you are vegan!
The food is delicious and it was a *lot* of food! Plus the owner offered me refills on the food. And of course their dahl was delicious.
Pros: Great tasting food and a lot of food., Centrally located near, Nice owners and fun to talk with

delicious food, friendly owner/staff - Edit
The very friendly owner can show you the vegan dishes and help you pick the right spiciness. All the food I tried was delicious. A bit more expensive then the khemer vegetarian restaurants, but definitely worth it.

Worth Missing the Bus For. - Edit
I got up early enough to be able to come here before catching a bus out of town. Conveniently located close to the central bus hub and majority of the minivan companies, it was an extremely welcome start to the day. Extensive menu of vego items, numerous vegan opportunities, extremely friendly owners and delicious food. No problem at all with having to wait, everything was perfectly timed. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Phnom Penh. Thank-you!
Pros: Extensive menu, No meat!, Great welcome and attentive owners
Cons: Was leaving town, so couldn't try everything!

5 stars - Edit
Firstly, the owner is very accommodating and helpful. Lovely man, who is enthusiastic about veganism. Discussed Forks over Knives with us. The food is absolutely delicious! We went back a second time as it was so good. The owner can help identify which dishes are vegan, and there are plenty. Highly recommend Bestos.
Pros: Friendly environment, Delicious food, Great price

The service was very personalized by the restaurant owner Mr. Rajan. After one week of eating Khmer cuisine daily, this was a welcome change and tasted just like in India

Get the samosa's then run away - Edit
We ate on a Sunday morning and we're the only customers so I expected a wait for the food to be prepared. It took about 45 minutes until we we're served. No problem on the wait if the food was wonderful, unfortunately it wasn't. ASIDE from having the best samosa outside of India, the rest of it was about the worst food in my life. On a consolation, it was the first time an Indian replaced food for free.
With all the amazing reviews of the place I will probably try it again one day. All places can have a bad day.
Pros: Service and kindness, Samosa's
Cons: rest of the food

you'll want to go back again and again - Edit
What a stroke of luck having this place in Phnom Penh - highly recommended!
This is a nice, friendly place behind the Central Market - the location indicator is spot on (thank you!) and Besto is easy to find by tuk tuk or on foot. I walked straight up from the river, when I got to the central market, I veered right and then straight up again until I got to the Zing Hotel.
A relaxed, friendly welcome, I've felt comfortable each time I been there - the menu is extensive, but from what I've tried so far, each item is prepared well and is tasty.
The food here is simply great, freshly prepared to order and consistently good!
I've already tried three different meals (all Indian) and enjoyed them all immensely.
I like the fact that this is vegetarian Indian restaurant and not an Indian restaurant with some vegetarian options - that in itself is a big draw, but well worth coming here anyway for the obvious care and attention that is placed on the food and the hospitality.
The Indian food is cooked home style and is hot, tasty and faultless. (If you want, you can even get an ice cold beer.) I also enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, there is no loud music playing, wall fans keep you cool, and the owners are polite, friendly and will chat without imposing on your space if you want to be alone.
Pricewise, a filling meal is relatively inexpensive, I paid between 5-10 dollars on each visit, which I feel is very reasonable for freshly prepared food of this quality.
I'm not sure if it's a smoking restaurant, there is a seating/smoking area outside, but last time I noticed someone smoking inside (by mistake?), so I can't say for certain.
I've been here several times and plan to head back after the new year and can't wait to go back, a great find in Phnom Penh.
Pros: all vegetarian. Excellent food, friendly, comfortable, inexpensive, short walk from the River

A Culinary Haven in Phnom Penh - Edit
Off to the side of Central Market and next to Hotel Zing lies one of the finest Indian restaurants I have ever frequented. One naturally comes to Besto for the delicious curries and wide array of dishes, but it is the warmth and loving nature of the family that keeps me coming back again and again. The local staff is polite and attentive to customers. There are items here most Indian restaurants in Cambodia simply don't have, and you can get a gargantuan veggie burger or falafel at a reasonable price. Chaat, thalis, breads, K'may dishes and even some Thai on the menu. I suggest the $4 thali or in case of a bigger appetite, the $6 thali is magnificent, complete with wonderful chapatis. The decor is simple complete with a comfortable environment to enjoy your meal. Beware: you will become a repeat customer.
Pros: Food, Service, Selection
