Cool Place - Edit

I thought it was a pretty cool location; once you walk up the stairs there’s a giant window looking over the street and buildings. The decor inside was pretty cool, very retro.

The food was good, I thought my TLT was too salty though. The first bite was really good but after awhile the flavor became overpowering. My dad, who is a non vegan and likes salty food, really liked my TLT and his Cubano Panini. “Really good flavor!!!!”-my dad

“REALLY GOOD DESSERTS!!!” -me

Pros: Really good flavor, Decor, Decent price

Cons: Parking, Salty

Awesome Food!! All Vegan!! - Edit

This is what Albany’s been missing for years. I used to make day trips all the way to Syracuse just for vegan deli food at Strong Hearts (I still do occasionally!).

Awesome sandwiches and weekend specials, plus now they do Taco Tuesdays and even Brunch! Chicken and waffles are where it’s at.

Best Vegan Deli Ever! - Edit

This is my FAVORITE place to eat! Amazing, delicious vegan comfort food that will appease even the staunchest omnivore. There is plenty of seating available and the decor is hip and appealing. The staff is extremely friendly and kind and they make you feel at home. I can't recommend this place enough.

Pros: Delicious, decadent vegan comfort food, Friendly, kind staff , Ample dining room

Cons: None, None, None

Great sandwich spot - Edit

Cool place to grab a vegan sandwich in Albany. Based on staff recommendation, I opted for the veggie Reuben. It was hearty, savory, and filling. They make their own seitan pastrami in house, which is really cool. It was spiced well and had good flavor, and it worked well with the rye bread. My only complaint was that the meal as a whole was a bit oily, but overall still very good. I’d highly recommend this place, and I look forward to trying some of their other offerings.

Pros: Homemade mock meats, Lots of interesting sandwich options

Cons: Oily

Yummy - Edit

Really cute sandwich shop! As we ate we sat at the bar in the large bay window and were able to people-watch which was fun.
We sampled the Sietan Philly cheese steak sandwich, the Reuben, and the BBQ Jackfruit sandwich. All of them were delicious! I would definitely mark this as a stop on my next pass through in the Albany area!

our favorite vegan spot - Edit

Omg everything is Deliciousness 😍
We have been here many times. We drive up an hour and a half to visit this place everytime.
We have had the Seitan Philly Cheesesteak, BBQutiener, Jackfruit Pulled Pork Sandwich, BigMac Burger, Sunflower Burger, Buffalo Wing Sandwich and the BBQ Wing Sandwich, the Mushroom Po Boy, and we tried a few cupcakes and the apple pie bars and smores bars... Everything is always great!
Very reasonable priced. The staff is always friendly. It's such a great atmosphere. We even brought our non vegan friends and family here and they LOVED it. We recommend this place to everyone.
They even have wing Wednesday - we haven't tried this yet, but have been dying to!

Pros: we love everything about this place.

Cons: wish there was a few more options, other than sala

the food was incredible - Edit

There were two vegetarian options in downtown Albany and we chose this one based on proximity and reviews. So glad we did! Ordered the BBQ jackfruit sandwich for my carnivorous husband and the sunflower burger on greens for myself. Both meals were exceptional and we had the food within 10 minutes! Healthy, delicious and quick- we can’t wait to go back.

Pros: healthy, delicious, fast

Friday road trip - Edit

We found this place on this app and it was amazing. The place was a little confusing because it is built in a kinda apartment like area. The food was great. We got the jackfruit pulled sandwich and saitan sandwich. The jackfruit was a little sweet and almost tasted just like the real thing just without the fatty pork taste. The saitan sandwich was perfectly salty and a toasted taste to it. We are perfectly full and satisfied!!! Definitely a go to when we drive upstate New York again.

Pros: sandwich taste, free filtered water , nice staff

Cons: frying oil smell

DELISH quick bite! - Edit

Cute all vegan cafe! Got the Mac salad (highly recommend) was not dry and very reminiscent of summers in my childhood at bbqs. I got the Reuben and my sister got the egg sandwich. I liked hers better than mine. The meat on the Reuben tasted exactly like Tofurkeys roast beef lunch meat which was disappointing because I've had ones with house made sietan which is so much better. Great place to get a quick bite!

Edit- went back and got the secret menu Big Mac. Without a doubt delicious, but felt I could make at home much better with different cheeses and burger. The cupcake was delicious

Great quick lunch - Edit

I was in Albany for a work function. I am vegan and have a garlic intolerance, so that can be challenging. Had the Tempeh Bacon, Lettuce and tomato sandwich with dressed greens for my side. (An employee told me that there was no garlic in it.) It was delicious, and I was so ecstatic to find a garlic free option on the menu! My omni associates also enjoyed their meals. Service was quick, even though they were busy. The only negative was that we smelled a bit of fried food when we left, but that happens in many restaurants. Just something to be aware of, in case you are heading back to the office and that bothers you.

Pros: Great tasting food, Quick, Staff knowledgeable about ingredients

Cons: I smelled "greasy" afterwords

The Best!! - Edit

Love this place! We had the Reuben and Po' Boy...can't decide which one was better. They were both soooo incredible. Talked to one of the owners...Joey...and his story is such an inspiration. He was brave enoigj to just "Go for it"....with this cafe'...and I am sooo glad he did. Their wings are served in many restaurants in the area...and people, vegan or not, love them. If you are ever in the 518...make your way down to Lark Street and check this place out....you will NOT be disappointed! I pinky promise!!

Pros: Great Food, Cool Owners, Quaint

Cons: None

Pleasant Surprise - Edit

I drove through Albany on my way from Long Island to upstate New York and decided it was the best chance I had at finding vegan food. I first went to go to Healthy on Lark, but they had recently changed their hours and were closed. I started panicking because Berben and Wolff's was the only vegan restaurant I could find for miles, and as someone who hates fake meat, their menu made me apprehensive to go there. However, I didn't have any other options, so I went.

The restaurant is pretty small, only a few tables as it's meant to be more deli style. This was fine though as we needed to get back on the road and weren't looking for a fine dining experience.

My dad ordered the wing burger and I ordered the sunflower burger, as it was one of the few options on the menu that didn't involve mock meats. My dad, a carnivore who usually hates mock meats, actually loved the wing burger. He said the flavoring was amazing and it was unlike anything he's ever had, in a great way. I also really loved the sunflower burger.

Overall the food was amazing and I would definitely go back if I ever drive through Albany again.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly Staff, Good value

Cons: Small menu, Lots of mock meats
