DELISH quick bite!

Cute all vegan cafe! Got the Mac salad (highly recommend) was not dry and very reminiscent of summers in my childhood at bbqs. I got the Reuben and my sister got the egg sandwich. I liked hers better than mine. The meat on the Reuben tasted exactly like Tofurkeys roast beef lunch meat which was disappointing because I've had ones with house made sietan which is so much better. Great place to get a quick bite!

Edit- went back and got the secret menu Big Mac. Without a doubt delicious, but felt I could make at home much better with different cheeses and burger. The cupcake was delicious

Great quick lunch

I was in Albany for a work function. I am vegan and have a garlic intolerance, so that can be challenging. Had the Tempeh Bacon, Lettuce and tomato sandwich with dressed greens for my side. (An employee told me that there was no garlic in it.) It was delicious, and I was so ecstatic to find a garlic free option on the menu! My omni associates also enjoyed their meals. Service was quick, even though they were busy. The only negative was that we smelled a bit of fried food when we left, but that happens in many restaurants. Just something to be aware of, in case you are heading back to the office and that bothers you.

Pros: Great tasting food, Quick, Staff knowledgeable about ingredients

Cons: I smelled "greasy" afterwords

The Best!!

Love this place! We had the Reuben and Po' Boy...can't decide which one was better. They were both soooo incredible. Talked to one of the owners...Joey...and his story is such an inspiration. He was brave enoigj to just "Go for it"....with this cafe'...and I am sooo glad he did. Their wings are served in many restaurants in the area...and people, vegan or not, love them. If you are ever in the 518...make your way down to Lark Street and check this place out....you will NOT be disappointed! I pinky promise!!

Pros: Great Food, Cool Owners, Quaint

Cons: None

amazing!

I go to Berben & Wolff's sometimes more than once a week- it's that good. Usually order the egg sandwich but have tried the BBQ jackfruit, wing burger, and the Reuben & all are great. The staff and owners are friendly and generous people and the store is a great spot. My favorite in the whole area!

Pros: all vegan, gf options, affordable, great staff and location

Excellent Vegan Deli Food

Had the Cubano, the Reuben and the Wing Burger all of which were excellent. Our only regret was not being able to try the other sandwiches. Glad to find this gem in the Capital District.

Pleasant Surprise

I drove through Albany on my way from Long Island to upstate New York and decided it was the best chance I had at finding vegan food. I first went to go to Healthy on Lark, but they had recently changed their hours and were closed. I started panicking because Berben and Wolff's was the only vegan restaurant I could find for miles, and as someone who hates fake meat, their menu made me apprehensive to go there. However, I didn't have any other options, so I went.

The restaurant is pretty small, only a few tables as it's meant to be more deli style. This was fine though as we needed to get back on the road and weren't looking for a fine dining experience.

My dad ordered the wing burger and I ordered the sunflower burger, as it was one of the few options on the menu that didn't involve mock meats. My dad, a carnivore who usually hates mock meats, actually loved the wing burger. He said the flavoring was amazing and it was unlike anything he's ever had, in a great way. I also really loved the sunflower burger.

Overall the food was amazing and I would definitely go back if I ever drive through Albany again.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly Staff, Good value

Cons: Small menu, Lots of mock meats

really good

I couldn't recommend this place enough. I am from the area so it's great to have an all vegan place to go when I'm visiting my hometown. My fiancé and I are both vegan but my non-vegan family loves it too

Pros: good food, good variety, fairly quick service

Cons: street parking only, not a lot of tables

A Fantastic Deli for Everyone!

I was so excited to learn that Albany had such a cute vegan deli and Berben and Wolff's did not disappoint at ALL! This place has the best reuben and jackfruit pulled pork sandwich, and I'm so excited about their desserts. If you get the chance to, veg or not, definitely give this place a visit. Supporting independent veg businesses is so important, and these guys have definitely gained a loyal customer!

Pros: Great food, Cute atmosphere, Very filling portions

Cons: Can be hard to find parking, Dining area is a tiny

Rueben sandwich

Had a delicious Reuben sandwich here back in October. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area, and gave me recommendations of things to do while I was visiting Albany. I also had a slice of cake, which was incredibly dry, but I had come in close to closing time and grabbed the last slice, so it wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful

This place is the cream of the crop, by a wide margin the best vegan restaurant north of NYC, and I only say that because I've never been south of it since going Vegan. have had everything on their current menu, and all are delightful (I have not had the jackfruit but only due to past bad experiences with it, no fault of this fine establishment) BYOB too!

Pros: Completely vegan, everything is delicious. Great

Cons: The amazing wings are only available on Wednesday.

Just Downright Delicious

While my husband and I didn't have much time to relax and enjoy Berben and Wolffs as we were in a rush to get to a concert on time, this little vegan delicatessen made a big impression on us both despite the amount of time we were there!

The baked goods! Wow, I was not expecting a delicatessen to have about 10 different kinds of cakes, cupcakes and other sweet treats. I ordered 4 'fun lotus' cupcakes and 2 'garden cakes' to go. The fun lotus cupcakes are INCREDIBLE! I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's the best cupcake I have ever had. EVER. And I've had a lot of cupcakes over the years. It's a candied ginger cupcake with a green tea frosting topped with a little pink lotus blossom made of whats either gum paste or modeling chocolate. I do hope it's a permanent fixture in the bakery case! The garden cake was very good as well, a little miniature lemon poppy seed cake with a lavender icing. Very unique in a good way!
My husband (who is an omnivore) ordered a wing burger and was blown away by how delicious it was! He said he'd never have known it wasn't chicken if he hadn't been told beforehand that this was a fully vegan establishment. He thoroughly enjoyed it!

I know that we will for sure be stopping in to this little eatery every chance we get whenever we're in Albany, and I recommend you do so as well!

Amazing sandwiches

This place has amazing versions of classic sandwiches with seitan (homemade), tempeh, tofu, mushrooms, etc. I had the buffalo wing burger and it was amazing. Served with chips and a pickle, classic style. Save room for dessert, they have lots of delicious options and everything is vegan!!! Wish this place existed when I attended college in Albany!

Pros: all vegan , moderately priced , nice location and space

Extremely Well Executed

I go to Berben and Wolf probably twice a week, sometimes more. I've never had a bad meal. The staff is always excellent. You never have to wait long for your food. These folks are pros.

The Rueben is excellent and from what I hear it's their most request sandwich. If you like dijon, the Cubano is excellent. You'll probably have the best setian philly cheese steak of your life here, featuring thinly sliced seitan, house made cheese sauce and crunchy roll. Don't worry, they have gluten free options as well.

There's a 'grab and go' case featuring a changing cast of salads and deserts. If you're there on a day when they have the buffalo chicken mac and cheese consider yourself very lucky. For desert, the chai cake and pineapple upside cake are totally perfect.

Pros: Good Food, Great Staff

They really know how to make a sandwich

Whatever you put in it, sandwich making is an art, and these guys(?) really know how to do it. I've had several and each was a classic of its kind. My favorite so far has to be the Rueben. You can taste each ingredient from the toasted marble rye to the warm sauerkraut, cheese and pastrami, but together they are greater than the sum of their parts and make a great sandwich whether your vegan or not.
If I have any quibble about B&W, it's only that the name and intensity of their coffee, Deathwish, is all to accurate.

Pros: Everything is vegan, Everything tastes great .Staff is friendly, Surprizingly comfy, cheery quirky space

Cons: I live 150 miles from Albany & can only visit occa

So Good,..Wish It Was Closer

Stopped in while passing through and had the best Philly Cheesesteak of my life. I am a bit of a connoisseur of vegan cheesesteaks and have had many of them all over the country including a trip to Philly where I tastes six in a day.
Also had a buffalo chicken mac and cheese to-go and had it for breakfast the next day. Also really good, and craving it now.
I told the staff (maybe owner) how impressed I was, and they were very happy to receive the compliment, and seemed genuinely happy and humbled.

Pros: Amazing Food, Nice Staff

Cons: The dining room was hot. Though they just opened a, Not in NYC, my home town
