A street-cuisine favorite since the '90s

We've been snacking at Bengali Sweet House since the 1990s, and this popular place never disappoints the wish for tasty (if not particularly salubrious) Indian comfort food. It's a convenient choice for a meal or snack before/after a visit to the art galleries or theaters a short walk south down Tansen Marg.

Though the name mentions sweets, there's a full menu with snack and meal options. It's a reliable place for a good chole bhature, samosa with chutney, or chat.

Vegans note that unfortunately most of the sweets include at least one form of dairy (not to mention heaps of refined sugar).

Nathu's across the street is also recommendable.
