August 25th 2024, Decided to do a tour of the estate but I came late because the tour guides stop working at 3 pm. But you are still able to walk through the estate & see the area up until 5 pm. On the grounds, there is a chocolate factory that offers vegan options in chocolate. There were three vegan chocolate bar options (Dark Sea Salt-74% cocoa; Rich Dark-74% cocoa; & Dark Spice with Ginger & Cinnamon-60% cocoa). The Organic Cocoa Balls & Organic Cocoa Powder are also vegan. The only thing, these chocolate bars might be a little expensive($20EC a bar). But they are good & rich with chocolate. Not something I would buy everyday but it is worth it to try & experience the richness of Grenadian chocolate. Wanted to try the food at the restaurant but they don't accept any customers after 4 pm.
Read moreAugust 27th 2024. I revisted the estate so I can get the tour & I was pleased. It costs $16EC. I got to learn about the processing of chocolate & the history. The tour guides are knowledgable & willing to answer questions. Learnt about the way they used to do things & what they do now. Saw examples of fruits grown in Grenada, sampled more free chocolate & bought some spices. Lunch at the restaurant starts at 12pm, so I went up. A three course meal is $80EC (drinks sold separately). I immediately told the waitress that I am vegan & she said everything is vegan except the buffet trays with obvious fish and chicken. She also informed the cooks to make tofu for me as my protein source. Quite hospitable & knew what I meant even without me having to explain.
Firstly, I had Nutmeg Pod Juice. I was curious as to what it was. It is a juice made from the nutmeg shell in addition to cinnamon & bayleaves which is boiled altogether. Before buying, they gave me a sample & boy was it gooood! So ofcourse I had to have more, precisely two glasses.
For appetizer, I had a mix of their two options of split peas soup & green banana soup, which came along with rolls. Decided to have both the carrot roll & whole wheat roll with butter. For lunch, I was guided to the buffet. They made it aware to me what wasn't vegan which was obviously the meat & a potato/provision salad with mayo. So I had everything else (two types of salad, seasoned rice, provisions, lentils stew & the tofu in tomato sauce). Dessert: chocolate cake with pumpkin jam (mindblowned 🤯😍)& sesame seed stick. Delicious!! I also had a piña colada (coconut cream & pine juice). Meal total: $116EC. Free WIFI

We did a tour of Belmont Estate to learn about the traditional chocolate making process, that is still used today. Most of the chocolate products manufactured and sold here are vegan!
Read moreAfterwards, we ate at the restaurant on the Belmont estate grounds. The three course meal consisted of a split pea soup to start. For main you took a plate from the central food station and had the option to be served: salad, various vegetables, rice and a mixed bean stew. There was also a meat option instead of the stew, however we were informed that everything aside from this was vegan. Finally, for dessert, there was a slice of chocolate cake or sorbet.
The open terrace dining and super fresh and tasty food, made this a very enjoyable meal. One of the best we had, whilst in the north of Grenada. Would definitely recommend taking time to visit Belmont estate, for both the tour and lunch.
