Great Spot for Breakfast! - Edit
Went for breakfast first day in Safed and plan to go on our last. Tasty food and good service. Omelet sandwich was well seasoned and was served on just baked bread. Italian sharshuka was equally delicious. Israeli salad with tahini was good. Everything was very fresh. Located at the southern end of the Old City. Great place to begin your day of gallery hopping just down the hill. Number 1 on Trip Advisor for good reason. Go!
Pros: delicious food, nice, secluded location

Salad Paradise - Edit
Beit Yosef Cafe, in Safed, is hidden away just off the main street near the "Gesher" (bridge) landmark.
For a city that has numerous falaffel, schwarma and pizza joints, this is something different -- an elegant cafe that specializes in fresh produce and delicious pates, warm rolls and gourmet drinks.
I've been to the cafe twice and each time, have ordered a salad. The salads are served on a bed of greens and you have your choice of additions -- all sorts of vegetables, grains and crunchy nuts and seeds. I got a medium salad and was quite full, though you can also order a whole grain roll or any of the spreads (humos, cheese, tuna, olive, etc) if you need something extra.
The price came to about 50 shekels which was quite reasonable, considering how full I felt when I left. Highly recommended.
Pros: fresh produce, variety of choices, great location
