Good, cheap food!

I'd heard a lot about Beigel Bake, so dragged my friends while on a trip to London. There was a queue out the door, but then it was 1pm on a Saturday. I imagine the queues might not be as long in the middle of the night!

There were a few vegan options - I had the falafel and added hummus. Overall, beigels and a drink for two of us came to around £6. Bargain!

The cakes and bakes also looked amazing, although I don't think they were necessarily vegan.

Pros: Cheap!, Tasty food

Cons: Can be a queue

The original and best

I've been stocking up on plain bagels for home freezing for years from here (swing by the nearby Fauxmagerie for your vegan cream cheese). Seeded bagels are a tasty newer addition. I suggest enjoying them on their own terms without North Amercan comparisons ;)

Watching the production line makes for mindful queuing.

The unpredictably surly service is all part of its charm.

Pros: Absolute bargain, Always open!

Decent beigel

I came here hoping to try some beigels. I got a few all-dressed beigels to bring home and have for breakfast. They were reasonably priced at 40p each, and they were each a decent size. They were pretty flavourful, fluffy and chewy enough. Definitely better than store-bought beigels. The bakery also sells pastries; I asked if any were vegan, and was told that two are vegan: an apple pastry and a raisin pastry. I tried the apple pastry. It was tasty, but nothing special. I think it cost a little over £1.

Overall, the food I bought was well priced and was good. Nothing spectacular though. The staff was hurried; it wasn’t a great customer service experience, which was frustrating because the ordering system was somewhat difficult to navigate for a first-time customer. Admittedly, I visited on a Saturday afternoon when things were a bit busy.

Inexpensive Decent Bagels

I have heard a lot of hype around Beigel Bake so I decided to check it out when in Shoreditch. The vegan options are limited to avocado and hummus.

I went with the avocado bagel which was very inexpensive at £2.00. The other bagels cost £.50 for a single. I have tried a lot of bagels and this one is no where near as good as a bagel from New York or some bagels in Portland, however it is also a lot cheaper. The texture of the bagel is more bread like and doughy but still chewy. The staff here seemed a bit burned out possibly due to the high volume of customers.

For the price, Beigel Bake is a good value and great for those who want something quick to eat or bagels to go that are a bit better than store-bought.

Nice, quick and cheap

I was in need of a quick bite so decided to stop by here for a quick bagel. It was pretty good and they had more than one option of vegan suitable spread.
