Superb little vegan cafe with a few other items for sale

Set along the high street with some table and chairs in the sun we’d say it’s the best part about Bodmin

The waffles are a real treat and really affordable

Everything is made in-house it seems and all looks scrumptious

Will likely pop in again when I’m in this neck of the woods

Pros: Tasty, Large portions, Cheap!

Best of Bodmin for vegan

For vegan food I have not found anything that matches this adorable little cafe in Bodmin. Perfect portion sizes for drinks and food, a great menu with beautiful, tasty and creative dishes (I had the Buddha bowl and it was 👌) and marvelous milkshakes. Would recommend to anyone who's in Bodmin and in need of a proper vegan lunch and wants to show off to all of their non-vegan friends. I will be back again soon, I am sure of that 💚💚

Pros: Fabulous food, Marvelous milkshakes, Perfect portions

Cons: Small cafe

Amazing little find

Great tea and coffee. Fresh food made by lovely friendly staff. Pantry products (staples and interesting finds), zero waste soap refills, vegan “readymeals” and other food and drinks for sale. Would recommend

Pros: 100% vegan, Takeaway and shop too, There’s a puppy

Cosy little cafe

Huckleberries (previously Begin V) is a cosy little cafe, with a shop section at the back where storecupboard, refrigerated and frozen products are available to buy too. Our dog was welcome to join us as we ate, which was much appreciated. We enjoyed some tasty, warming lunch on a drizzly day; the chickpea & sweet potato curry was particularly yummy, as was the blue victoria sponge cake!

Pros: Dog friendly, Good food

Only place in my town

Was very excited that this place opened in my home town, the owners (I say that plural because it's changed like 3 times!) are always very nice. The cakes are excellent and my non-vegan family love it too!

Fantastic vegan cafe, they have a great selection of meals on offer with many gluten free options too. There is also a little shop area and they make frozen meals to take home too.

The staff were lovely, helpful and knowledgeable.

Great job!

Pros: Gluten free options, Take away meals, Helpful staff

Cons: Could do with more seating

Decent food, reasonable price.

I ate in BeginV today. I had the Chick Pea & Sweet Potato Curry with potato wedges. I followed that with a gateaux/sponge. All very good, tasty and recommended.

There are also some vegan products/provisions for sale... I stocked up with some processed foodstuffs; Oatley, tahini, chocolate bar, Vego spread, instant Chai Tea, cans of Baked Beans & Sausages and Vegan Meatball Bolognese!

The cafe/shop is also home to the production of a frozen convenience food brand called Mint & Marjoram. I bought one of each of their range to try.

Pros: Decent wholesome food. Mains & desserts., Reasonable prices, Good range of vegan groceries, frozen and chilled.

Cons: A little bit crowded when busy., At the far end of Fore/High Street.

I love this shop!!

I visited your shop yesterday in search for something yummy for my baby nephew who is elergic to nuts eggs gluten and wheat. I wasn't disappointed. The ladies in there were amazing and so kind!! I came away with a home made rocky road bar. His little face while eating it was pure delight!! It was delicious! I will be a regular there now and would strongly recommend a visit to all the people who have allergies. What a fab place and it won't break the bank. Oh and the lemonade is the best I have ever tasted!!! So pleased I found this haven for my little man!

Very very happy customer [censored]

Pros: So friendly. Nothing is to much trouble. , So much choice , And so affordable.

A friendly relaxed vegan spot

Plenty of fresh foods and it's all vegan, mainly lunch and brunch foods with daily cakes and sweets. The mini market is huge and has all sorts like chocolates, squirty creams, chilled faux meats, cheese, ice cream, jackfruit, chilled foods and frozen meals etc.
It's worth checking the opening hours on facebook which are updated more often.

Lovely cafe, great shop selection

I had the glutenfree Buddha bowl and my husband had the regular breakfast (vegan full English). He loved his food and mine was tasty. Only complaint was that it took about 30 mins to arrive despite being the only ones there.
Really great selection of things to buy with dry, frozen and refrigerated goods. I also bought a tofu press which you don't see in many cafe shops!
Husband had a Bakewell tart which was really nice. Only 2 gf baked goods which was a shame, but the flapjack I had was nice.
Really friendly staff and we'd definitely come back.

Pros: All vegan, quite a lot of glutenfree, Great shop selection

Cons: Even more glutenfree would be good

Thank you for your review. I am not sure why you had to wait so long, I am sorry for that. We do cook everything fresh and will hopefully be quicker on your next visit. I have also noted your request for more gluten free cake options.

A must to visit. So much choice.

A great cafe at the top of Bodmin high street. Not only a cafe but a shop which sells some real finds, products you don't see anywhere else.
Thoroughly recommend the cheese and onion toastie. and the pancakes. The rocky road is sooo good!
You can buy a range of foods to take home which is made at the cafe. Including cheese and onion pasties.
Its a cosy atmosphere. With happy staff 😊.

Pros: Great food., Well stocked shop., Cosy cafe with friendy staff.

Cons: There aren't any negatives.

Wonderful Addition To Bodmin

I have visited this cafe many times. I’ve eaten in, ordered food to take away, and have bought from the small vegan supermarket. It is an absolutely wonderful place for vegans to have on their doorstep and I hope they stay here for good. Shopping for vegan fare in the local supermarkets is so difficult, but Begin V has many wonderful items to purchase. Their takeaway pizzas are amazing. Their Cornish Cream Tea with coconut cream is to die for. Their Buddha bowl and fresh cakes are also incredible. And after trying each of their tacos, I can confirm that I’ll be buying them again!! I just need a day to come in and try their beautiful looking afternoon tea! I can’t wait to visit again and again.

Pros: Entirely vegan menu , Parking outside, Vegan supermarket and cafe

Lovely cafe with tasty food and great atmosphere

Begin V is an inviting and welcoming cafe with a great range of food. My non veggie dad and I both loved the food and drinks on offer. It’s lovely to have a menu that has a variety of food that is all perfect for any vegan or vegetarian. All the products available to buy from the supermarket are very inviting and look delicious, even for a non-vegan. What a nice cafe with a warm atmosphere and lovely food!

Pros: Lovely atmosphere , Tasty food, Friendly staff

Cons: Could do with a bit more seating

Bodmins best kept secret!

After reading some great reviews on Happy Cow, my Wife suggested we dine at this lovely little Cafe. It certainly didn’t disappoint!.

I had the No-Beef Stew & my Wife has the Sweet Potato & Chick Pea Curry. It was amazing! Washed down with some Jasmine Tea!.

A great friendly atmosphere & we even got chatting to the Lady who owns the cafe. A very down to earth person with pure passion for what she does & it shows in the food! Highly recommended!

A great, friendly and relaxed cafe

We visited this cafe after reading positive reviews on here and it did not disappoint. My husband had the no-beef stew with dumplings and I had the sweet potato and chickpea curry. The food was delicious and great value. We also bought some chocolate from the little shop there and had a nice chat with the owner. Would definitely recommend it.

Great vegan and gluten free food

So many vegan dishes that are also gluten free which is difficult to find. So far i have had a juicy burger, chocolate and beetroot cake, lentil bolognaise, and a cheese and caramelised onion sandwich which have all been lovely. The cafe also includes a mini vegan supermarket with things like nut butters, chocolate, tofu presses and nut roasts.
