Lunch in Bakewell - Edit
Visited ‘Because I Like It’ today. The vegan options and food was great. However the service was very slow and £1.95 for a can of pop is very pricey.

Several vegan options - Edit
Mixed bag really. Nice staff but kept on forgetting about our orders. Soup was nice. Hummus and pepper panini was not. Cinnamon and pecan slice and Bakewell tart were gorgeous. Scone with coconut ‘cream’ was poor. Cafe itself was quite cool. Food was expensive for what it was.

This place is great to stop for breakfast, lunch or just a coffee and cake. Had a vegan Bakewell and a cheese and coleslaw wrap. The vegan breakfast looks great.

Lots of choice including Bakewell tart! - Edit
Loved the menu here as there were so many vegan options as well as lots of vegan cake options. I got a soy chai latte, the vegetable Penang curry and the Bakewell tart with soya cream. All delicious! I took away the flapjack which was so tasty too, and she knocked 50p off as it was smaller than the usual size! I noticed some of the desserts had won great taste awards too. For 2 drinks, 2 meals, 3 desserts it was about £27. Service was great, and it’s located in an art gallery so you can browse and buy art, craft cards etc.

Great place with loads of vegan dishes. Toasted sandwiches, sandwiches, jacket spuds, tapas, soup, Patatas. Loads of vegan cakes and deserts including a Vegan Bakewell which was bloody delicious. Sit inside and look at the art and jewelry or outside in the courtyard. Friendly and helpful staff.

Amazing Vegan afternoon tea - Edit
My friend bought me a voucher for afternoon tea here as they do a vegan one. It was pretty epic. Unlimited tea and coffee with dairy free milk. 4 different types of sarnies and 4 different cakes!! This feast was followed by a warm scone with coconut cream and jam!! Really nice staff and lovely gallery. I highly recommend it

Vegan Bakewell tart! - Edit
Had a fantastic visit, delicious vegan breakfast with Henderson's relish on all the tables (don't find that in the south!!) And polished off with a slice of vegan Bakewell tart which I was delighted to find after feeling envious of all the other shops selling this speciality! Would highly recommend😄

Good find - Edit
I had a lovely toasted sandwich here and a good pot of tea. I was very excited to be able to get a vegan scone with coconut cream too as I’ve never had coconut cream. However this was disappointing as I’m certain I was served a pot of coconut oil not cream made from coconut milk. It was just like coconut lard - yuk! It was an extremely busy day so maybe it was just a mistake.

Vegan Bakewell Tart! - Edit
What a find.
Read moreFour of us spotted this delightful café/restaurant in the middle of Bakewell (but down a alley) prominently displaying 'VEGAN' signs.
They have a lovely outdoor area, partially shaded by vines, so we decided to sit there, and asked to see the menu.
Lots of choice. Vegan wines and beers too.
And then we spotted the Vegan Bakewell Tart. Fabulous.
We will be back for more.

Great for coffee and cake - Edit
In a rural town with traditional non-vegan bakeries, this was an unexpected find.
Read moreWorth a visit for a scone with freshly whipped coconut cream and jam. There was a good selection of vegan cakes and tea and coffee.
The owner mentioned that a vegan Bakewell tart was also in the works, and would be on the menu soon!

Excellent selection of vegan cake - Edit
I popped in just before closing to buy a piece of cake to take away. The selection was great - several cakes, flapjacks, scones and a chocolate and coconut tart which looked tempting. I opted for the pecan strussel and enjoyed it with coffee that evening.
