Good coffee and cake - Edit
I ordered an orange vegan cake which was quite tasty and an almond milk flat white. My only complaint is that the vibe of the place just gave me a not so great feeling. I just got it to take away instead of sitting there.

More vegan options needed - Edit
This is a cool little place, albeit with a cramped entry/ ordering area. They sometimes have more vegan options available, but to get regulars in they need to increase the range of options (cabinet and menu)
Read morePros: Some vegan options
Cons: Small area to order, right in the entry way, Need more vegan options!

Best vegan sándwich in town - if you can get it - Edit
The vegan melt sandwich is my favourite sandwich in Christchurch - full of vegan cheese and veggies - make sure you get it heated. There are always multiple vegan options in the cabinet, sweet and savoury, and the coffee is really nice.

Vegan options starting to lag here. Last two times I’ve visited there’s only been sweet vegan things in the cabinet, nothing savoury, including the delicious sandwich. Disappointing.

Yeah, it's okay - Edit
I've been here twice. People have raved about it, but I don't realllly see what the fuss is about. The first time I got beans on toast from the sides menu and was charged heaps for the toast. Then it took ages to come out despite it being a quiet day. Tasted quite good but nothing spectacular. The second time I came here with my friend, we both got vegan pizza. It was nice, but pretty expensive for what it was. Both times the staff have been super friendly and chatty, almost quite full on! But still, lovely. Really enjoy the seating and decor, they've done that super well. Eh, I'm not super impressed by this place, but it's not terrible.

Knowledgabke staff - Edit
This place is different but offers cabnit and a menu. The staff know exactly what vegan is and will help you find something or adapt something for you. Both cabnit and menu have vegan options.

Good lunch options - Edit
I had lunch here with a vegan cappuccino and some nice tasty sandwich-structure. Thoroughly enjoyed it, very tasty. It does looks a bit unorganized and for some reason not so clean in side, so there's room for improvement.

Great food, great coffee, great place - Edit
Lovely little cafe with friendly staff and good music. We had the vegan melt and the vegan roll - both were good, but particularly the melt! Excellent coffee too. They had lots of other vegan and veggie options, both in the fridge and on the menu.

Good coffee spot and a vegan option or two - Edit
We came here nearly every morning while in Christchurch. The coffee was good and the staff were very friendly. We didn’t really have anything to eat and it didn’t look like there was a massive amount of vegan options, although I did see a vegan burger in the cabinet. We did try a vegan chocolate and berry brownie, but it didn’t taste that good. Good as a regular coffee spot with plenty of outdoor space in the courtyard.

great lunch - Edit
I use to go here quite a bit when I lived in CHCH. I quite liked it! Had quite a few options and was nice and quick to go to for lunch breaks. Love the interior and plays music too sometimes! Lovely atmosphere when that’s happening

Where are the vegan options? - Edit
I read a load of reviews on here saying there was a good range of vegan foods. When I went I was confused that the menu did not seem to have any on. I asked at the counter and my attention was turned to three mildly okay-looking salads. I decided on the thai noodle one and got only a small portion of it. It was expensive for the portion size and did not taste great. I was really disappointed by the lack of options.
Read moreThe place was also very poorly insulated as a well and I was freezing sat there eating my cold salad. The WiFi did not work well either.
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Lack of vegan options, Poor food quality, Cold environment

Popped in here for lunch and had a delicious and filling meal. The vegan burger was great and my wife loved her GF vegan pumpkin gnocchi. We split the vegan potato salad.

vegan melt for the win!! - Edit
This place is pretty cute! Formica tables, mismatching salt and peppers, little flower pots on the table in a cute old house that was probably a corner store in the day.
Read moreIt's the type of place vegan food use to be before it became lucrative for hippies to open vegan friendly health food stores and cash in on the subculture.
The coffee was ace, the food was good.
The vegan melt was the best!!
I absolutely recommend this place.
One of the staff members probably shouldn't be in the service industry or was cooked or coming down, who knows but the European chick was rad and the young vegan guy was super helpful!

beat street - Edit
we went to the beat street on a very warm and windy sunday afternoon. the atmosphere was fine. it's what i expected from what it looks like outside. the guy that served us at the counter was nice. there were a few vegan options including a dessert or two. we both had the corn fritters, which were delicious (and vegan of course). the soy latte and soy chai we ordered weren't very good though and that was a disappointment. even though they weren't very busy, the food delivery was slow. the outside patio area was nice and quiet. if it was any less windy, it would have been really busy and noisy. we enjoyed it as it was. it did seem a bit expensive though: two corn fritters and two soy beverages came to $32.

Good vegan options - Edit
Beat Street was a lucky find in Christchurch. The options for vegans are pretty limited in this city. Beat Street serves meat, but they try to offer more sustainable choices. They always have a few vegan options in their "ready made" section. I got a piece of vegan pizza which was really unique (lots of veggies and beans as well,) to-go, so it was cold when I ate it and it was still really good. Would have been great if it was hot. I also got the vegan "pie" which had an indian flavor with garbanzo's and curry. It was tasty as well. I also got a nice hot Chai tea with soy milk and a vegan brownie, which were both awesome. Their vegan choices change regularly, but I imagine they will all be good. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff. Free wi-fi with the requested code. The only think negative I can say is that the vegan options must change daily. I first visited in the evening, after having just had an early dinner elsewhere. They had an amazing huge multilayered vegan casserole type thing, with tons of veggies, pesto, and a garlic aioli. The young man behind the counter said it was awesome. But since I'd just eaten, I said I would return the next day to get that. But when I arrived the next day it was gone! (Even though they were almost closing when I was there the prior day.) So if you see something you like, get it for take-away! It will probably be gone the next day.
