Operating since 2015 as a small vegan café in the afternoon and a vegan pizzeria in the evening. Serves a daily changing lunch dish, sandwiches, cakes, smoothies and loads of lemonades (including dandelion and woodruff). At around 6.30pm the place turns into an open end pizzeria also serving burgers. SEP 2016 REPORTED SHUT.

Great Vegan - Edit
My first vegan friendly visit in Hamburg, after searching for a while. It was worth the wait! The owners take care of each client with special care, as they do to their menu. We tried 4 different options and I can't decide which one I preferred.
Read moreI highly recommend this place to anyone concerned about environmentally friendly approach in restaurants. You'll be delighted with their details.
Pros: Truly genuine, enough options and really great ser

Nice burger - Edit
I ordered a burger with chutney and one of their home made drinks. Everything here is home made and you can tell that they are proud of it (which they should be). The burger was nice, but not the best I have ever had. The drink was really good even though I can no longer remember what I had haha

nice, small and expensive - Edit
The salad with mango and almonds was great but it costs 7,50 €. The Bacon Burger with smoked tofu and plack beans pattie was ok, but not my favourite.

100% great vegan food! - Edit
Only 15min walk from the city centre, lies this small and cousy restaurant. We enjoyed the home made orange lemonade (better than Fanta), fresh red lentilsoup and a 'bacon'burger. Combined with the kind hospitality of our host, we enjoyed a nice meal.

a real vegan experience! - Edit
A lovingly girl doing amazing fresh healthy food for you in a bright summer afternoon? Yes, please! My husband and I had the chutney burguer and it's delicious! The homemade lemonade is a must drink. We definitely will go there again next time we are in town.

Date at the vegan cafe - Edit
My wife and i tried this little restaurant last saturday and were very satisfied. We had a beetrout soup, salad, kidney bean burger and red smoothie for slightly more than 22€.
Read moreThe portions were good sized and even we shared the soup it was enough for us both.
The salad had some ingredients that were new to us like the chayote.
We chatted with the owner about the origin of the cafe's name, but i dont want to spoil the experience :-)
They have a very limited menu but that was okay for us.
We saw even some people buying some burgers for take away.
I am sure we wil come back. If you love small independent owner managed cafes you are at the right place.
P.S. they said that the main dishes are also available before 18:30
Pros: selfmade healthy food, independent small cafe
Cons: limited menu, noisy street

Small and friendly - Edit
Ba um does not always open at 11.30, I would advise arriving well after midday to be sure of it being open and offering anything other than drinks. But depending on the chef you maybe lucky with an earlier start!
Read moreI was however invited in out of the glaring sun and sat reading my book and using the wifi until they were ready to serve me. English is spoken pretty well by most of the staff as it is in most places in Hamburg and indeed Germany, but always double check what you have ordered or indeed that your order was taken or you might wait for some time as I did before realising that it hadn't,t been!!
Ba um,s menu is rather limited and at the moment they are not making pizza,s in the evening, just burgers. The food is all, fresh and homemade and I get the impression you could probably preorder pizzas if so desired. the chocolate cake is very good and succulent though not GF or SF.
I had a good broccoli soup, that turned out to be potato and broccoli soup in a large and interesting if a little noisy bowl, an earl grey tea a piece of cake and friendly chat for all under 10 euros.
I hope Ba um gets busier and has a wider range of food for the next time I,m in Hamburg. It,s good to see little independanr vegan cafes starting up and not just corporate ones. Ba um will restart doing Pizza,s when they can find the right sized pizza oven for their little kitchen! the sooner the better!
Pros: Friendly, Moderate price, Fresh homemade food
Cons: Limited menu, No sugar free deserts
