good food and location

These guys have a good vibe happening and I was initially taken by the option of vegan burgers, something that is rare at a beachside cafe. They originally had 3 vegan options, so that is a little disappointing as there are just 2 now. I liked the schroom one they used to have. The VIP burger however is fantastic with a delicious veg pattie, vegan mayo and loads of trimmings. Their hot chips are great too.

Pros: near beach, tasty food at a good price, quality ingredients and presentation

Cons: more vegan options please

Was once great for vegans, not anymore

Barry's changed their menu sometime in the last year, and is now not as vegan-friendly as it used to be. They used to have three veggie burgers on their menu that could be veganised - now they have just two, and to have the vegan version, you have to pay a $2 surcharge for a gluten-free bun as the regular bun isn't vegan.

So the vegan burgers end up being the most expensive burgers on the menu - more expensive even than the "deluxe" burger, which has double beef (grass-fed), double bacon and double cheese. That doesn't sit well with me at all - sweet potato and iceberg lettuce don't cost that much!

Pros: location, chips are good

Cons: vegan burgers the most expensive items on the menu, limited choice for vegetarians and vegans

Thanks for the 2 star review. Actually making a Veggie Pattie entirely from scratch is quite costly, we don't prefer to pre order stuff like that. Vegan products are actually quite expensive, so the costing of the product is a reflection of that and quality isn't something we sacrifice.

Good vegan burgers!

I went here with my family, which was ideal as they are all meat eaters. There were three vegetarian burgers to choose from, all which can be veganised with an alternative vegan option written on the menu. I had the veggie patty with cashew cheese and added avocado. The burger was delicious and the cashew cheese was really nice, like a spread on the bun. The chips were also great, and they had vegan mayo to go with them! They also had two salad options, one vegetarian and one vegan, and quite a few vegan/gluten free cakes. I had a raw snickers truffle, which was really good but very sweet so I had to eat it over two days! Overall this place was really good, nice and casual and right by the beach, so you can go picnic by the beach if the weather is good.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Nice burgers, Really friendly staff
