Tastiest vegetarian food I had in Hoi An - Edit

I came here twice while I was in Hoi An with my friend. There are many different options for vegetarian and also vegan. We had the tofu in clay pot, Cao Lau, Banana Flower Salad and morning glory. The food was served very quickly and it was the best tasting food we ate in Hoi An. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Pros: Very Tasty, Good portion size, Fast service

central place with drinks - Edit

The place was about 100m away from what happy cow showed, double check on google.maps, there it was correct. The service was slow and we waited quite long. We had vietnamese dishes, but the food was good and looked they cooked the soup fresh, so thats why so long :-).

Vegetarian - Edit

Nice place with pool table and fussball. They brought the burger with cheese and mayo even tho I asked for them not to put them on. There weren’t very many fries. The fresh rolls were good. This place overlooks the river in the Hoi An night Market area.

Pros: fast

No nonsense. Respect for the ingredients - Edit

Yes, it looks from the street just like other bars along the strip. And yes, they have a bar, Foosball and pool table. But they serve sensible Asian vegetarian dishes. Example: Remarkably restrained banana flower salad avoiding the common over use of sugar. My Thai dinner companion gave high marks. He correctly observed that everything we had honors the ingredients without trying to generate sensational response. We came back and enjoyed the second meal just as much.

Cons: Sometimes loud music from next door or, Boisterous Foosball players.

Great selection and lovely food - Edit

We really enjoyed our dinner there. Especially the banana leaf salad was great. I also had the eggplant in clay pot and my boyfriend had the vegan pho. Both were good. Next time I’ll have some of the great tofu dish selection, Yum! The service was great and the waiters so nice! English menu.

Pros: No. of vegan options, Great service and price, Lots of tofu dishes

Best Vegetarian in Hoi An - Edit

Everything we tried here was delicious, particularly the local dishes. We happily ate here every day, despite trying other happy cow recommended options.
Staff were really friendly.
Super convenient location, close to all other bars and restaurants on the river.
Not the cheapest but definitely value for money.

Pros: Yummm, Location , Value

Tasty choice@ - Edit

Just had a meal here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Plenty of vegan choice, resulting in us eating too much! Great position by the river.

Pros: Choice of dishes, and river view

Does Exist! - Edit

Have to admit I did not go in as I stumbled across it by accident and had already eaten, but want to confirm it does exist and the map is correct. It is wedged inbetween a couple of loud bars. Prices looked a bit steep.

Dai_N 28 Dec 2017 - Hi LilacHippy.
I'd recommend you go for a meal here at a quieter time (between 5pm and 7pm is good). This restaurant is owned by a friend of mine and whilst it's location is not ideal for some, I'm sure you'd have a nice meal and earlier in the evening it is a lot quieter. I'd also respectfully ask that you consider removing your post until you are able to go for a meal there. Whilst it's nice of you to confirm it does exist, I think a 3 star rating for a place you didn't go inside is quite harsh - in Hoi An internet reviews can really affect business. I hope you think that's a fair thing for me to ask?
Enjoy your time in Hoi An

Dai_N 28 Dec 2017 - Hi GilNahum,
Can I ask you to kindly remove your review of Barley Vegetarian restaurant on the basis that the restaurant does exist and is now open. At the time of your review the owner was traveling in Europe and the restaurant was indeed closed and your review was appropriate. However, now that it is open, this comment is no longer helpful to the business or customers. I hope you agree this is a fair request.
Thank you.

'Western' Food - Edit

The worst food I've had in Vietnam. Their 'seaweed soup' is basically boiled onions, tomatoes and tofu in heavily-peppered water with strips of nori; and the 'tomatoes on toast' consisted of napolitana sauce on toasted banh mi. One redeeming feature was their 'lotus salad', which was pretty nice.

Updated from previous review on 2017-01-04

Pros: sweet staff, nice presentation, serves alcohol

Cons: novel attempt at 'Western' food, loud music from bar next door , über-pricey

nice food - Edit

I had a cheese curry which was flavourful, not really tasting of cheese but of nice curry spices and fresh vegetables. Tasty food. Nice location on the riverside. The music from the bar next door was a bit loud. But hte river view makes up for it.
