Wonderful food, vegan sushi, soup, burrito, bowls and more!

Upstairs open-air seating in a small shopping mall. Lots of parking. This is tasty, wholesome good food. My first choice to come back to again and again.

Pros: Lots of delicious vegan choices, Friendly staff, Just wonderful.

Will go back

There are so many possibilities at this place … and ALL VEGAN!

We ordered the Curry Crepe and the Wild Mushroom Risotto. We also ordered a smoothie but I can’t remember which one but it was delicious. The staff is so nice and the outdoor dining area was nice too.

The only negative comment is that I thought I was ordering “risotto” but it’s not risotto at all. It was a rice bowl. Although it was delicious, I was expecting something else. After I got over myself, I enjoyed it.

Best vegan restaurant on the island!

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this hidden gem one day on the way to the beach. The portions are huge and beautifully plated with fresh ingredients. We have gone back another time. Would recommend the nachos, açai bowl & burritos! I wish we had more time on the island to try other items. Highly recommend! The staff are also very sweet and remembered us coming again. No cons

Pros: Fresh ingredients , Big portions, Lovely staff

Delicious, healthy, huge portions, friendly

What a find on the drive from Kona to Hilo. A vegan restaurant with the friendliest staff (thanks Tess!), delicious, healthy and creative food choices and an outdoor seating ocean view. Portions are huge - enough to share or take home for another meal. Highly recommended!

Pros: Vegan, Healthy, Delicious

The Food is Amazing!!!

We happened upon Barefoot Zone by accident, and what a wonderful find! We thoroughly enjoyed the spiralina latte, curry crepe, the veggie quesadilla and soup... the portions are so large, we got two meals out of our order! Everything was whole food plant based and delicious! So wish we could have had more meals there while visiting the Big Island!

Fresh and Overpriced

Now fully vegan. Super sweet workers. Yummy crepes and smoothies, but HIGHLY overpriced. Smoothies $10, crepes $15-17, average portion prices.

Pros: Fresh

Cons: Price

Wow! You will not be disappointed!

We stopped in before our flight back to Denver and our only regret was that we hadn’t discovered it at the beginning of our trip. The Half & Half açaí/pitaya bowl was unreal. Normally, açaí bowls are just enough to whet your appetite but this thing was huge and satisfying. Everything can be made vegan so we ordered Rainbow Roll, Avocado Roll, Pesto Crepe Wrap and vegan cheese Quesadilla. Hubby and I especially loved the pesto crepe wrap but we had no problem devouring the rolls. Our 13 year old loved his quesadilla. Whole food, plant based yumminess. It’s unfortunate that there are so few reviews and we almost didn’t go because of that. Others need to share their experience because this place is amaaaaazing!!! Hours are posted as Mon - Sun 9-2 and then 3:30-8:00 (They are closed between 2-3:30). Parking isn’t convenient but we parked near street and only had to walk a couple hundred feet. So worth it. Small biz with great service and quality ingredients.

Pros: Quality ingredients , Friendly service

Cons: Not in Denver! :(

Will travel for food

I traveled to the big island 3 times this year and made a point to stop in each time after my first visit. A little something for everyone with lots of vegan options/subs. They moved to the Kona Islander Inn after my second trip and I walked around for an hour until I could find the new location...nothing else would do when that craving kicked in! I've tried the Super Bowl, Vegan Burrito, Veggie Pesto Crepe, and the Power Greens Smoothie. Everything is presented beautifully and tastes healthy and amazing! The owner is passionate about what she does and has a warm, pleasant and approachable personality. This is a hidden gem and well worth a visit. I signed up for their rewards program to get my free smoothie just in case I head back!

Fantastic Vegan Find in Kona

This small charming restaurant is in the Kona Islander Inn. They have a small menu but the food is fantastic.

We had the vegan burrito and will come back again just for that.

Pros: tasty, healthy, charming location

Cons: limited menu

Great Vegan Options

We were travelling from Illinois, and looking for Vegan options in the Kona area. Barefoot Zone popped up and we took a chance. Great choice! The staff and food were excellent. We would return frequently if we lived here.

Pros: Lots of Vegan options.

Great açai bowls

Delicious açai bowls. Met a local who said it’s the only açai bowls she enjoys in town. Really friendly service as well
