Great food - Edit
I will always drive an hour for those loaded fries and cacao and mushroom latte…that’s how good they are. The BLT was ok. I did really like whatever sauce or mayo they had on it, other than that I wasn’t a fan. My friend had the Bare Bowl which I had a small taste of and I thought it was good. I might try it next time.

Bare, Bites, Bowls and Betrayal - Edit
This cafe used to have a fully plant based menu. It was always a shame they served cow's milk in the coffee, but their signs advertised that they were plant based and everything on the menu was vegan. The cafe was always busy and they even moved to a new location which had way more foot traffic and it was often hard to get a seat.
Read moreBut then came the day when they dined and dashed on their own morals. Eggs were added to the menu, then non-vegan cookies and now you actually have to ask if there is a vegan option for items on the menu. It's like playing vegan roulette. "Will my brownie contribute to animal suffering today or not? Who knows?"
When I asked why they added eggs onto the menu, the staff member was defensive and rude and huffed that they had to make more money. What a shame the animals' lives are worth so little to this business. At the time of this review they still have signs up saying plant based when that is not the case. It seems that they built their business by appealing to those who care for the animals and the environment and then betraying those same animals. Yes, the eggs are 'free range', but I doubt anyone on this website has to be reminded that even hens from free range farms get sent to slaughter at 18 months and that all male chicks are killed at the hatchery.
The food has also gone downhill since they moved. Since the cook from their old location left, the nachos and loaded fries went from chef's kiss to slop du jour.
I'd love to see this business lean back into their plant based angle, but I predict that before too long it will be like many other cafes in the area - overpriced, bog standard food and reliant on animal suffering. What a disappointing backwards step.
Pros: some vegan options, good location, used to be good food
Cons: Money over morals, Not really plant based as advertised, Declining food quality

Amazing nachos and hot drinks - Edit
Loads to pick from was torn between the vegan BLT and nachos. Went with the nachos and was not disappointed. Not your traditional nachos but topped with loads of tasty things. Loved the sour cream especially. Lots of interesting hot drinks to choose from. Expensive but come in a large mug and taste amazing.

Best Vegan Nachos Ever 😋 - Edit
I don’t know how they did it but these vegan nachos were so delicious! The serving was also very generous and even when shared between two we couldn’t finish it. We had a late lunch so by around 2:30pm a lot of the lunch options had sold out so get there early if you can. Highly recommend!

No downside - Edit
This is a vegan paradise. The food, although at first glance, it might seem the same as any other cafe, is original and designed to be balanced. The smashed avo toast, for example, can be on an interesting charcoal bread, and the nachos has a base of hummus and beans quite unlike anything I had tasted before. The Matcha lavender latte takes the matcha genre to a new level. There’s even free dog biscuits. It’s an experience. If you’re lucky, you might see the man with the three parrots sitting at the outside front table. This is the Disneyland of vegan eating in so many ways. #Veganuary

Great drink selection - Edit
They have an amazing selection of hot drinks, smoothies and cold pressed juices. Ordered the loaded fries which were yum - great toppings but they seemed to use packet hot chips would have been 10/10 if they were home made rustic style chips/wedges.

We returned after our delightful first experience and so happy we did. I had the Bare bowl again & my husband did too. Staff were friendly & happy to accomodate my dietary needs. A shame Bare is a long way from Melbourne. Bowral will be our regular stopover from now on.

The way vegan should be! - Edit
We stumbled across this gem on our way to Bowral and we were blown away with the food! It is rare to find food created with intention and health at its core. We had the living bruschetta with seeded bread - this bread is gluten free and alive! It was so nutrient dense we felt so good afterwards! The topping was so tasty it's hard to believe the ingredients are all good for you and your gut! We also had the nachos which had the most delicious vegan cheese! The Sticky Chai on oat milk was heaven to drink and the Snickers slice was just divine!
Read moreThe only thing better than the food was the customer service - and the food was a 10 out of 10. The warm reception we received having travelled from Sydney was so lovely and the gorgeous young guy at the front was just the sweetest and most accommodating soul. He brought all our food to the outdoor table and explained our juices took a little longer because they are cold pressed - which is more nutritious!
Oh and absolutely no dairy milk is served for their coffee and beverages like some other 'vegan' cafes. So much respect for embodying the change despite the demand for dairy by the masses!

So disappointed - Edit
We had been really looking forward to trying this cafe and were very disappointed. We ordered the bruschetta which was lacking flavor, bread was dry and overall underwhelming. We also purchased the nachos which strangely had no cheese on it. It had a few Veges and wild rice on top of some corn chips and that’s it. We tried some of their sweets which were inedible and went in the bin. We took home the Brie cheese wheel to try and it’s ok, probably a little sweet. The staff had no knowledge of products they were selling and the place is tiny with only 2 stools inside the cafe and some outdoor seating with no heating available and the southern highlands is very cold so you think they would put some gas heaters out. We waited 25 minutes for food and are told to stand outside (they won’t bring to your table) Paid $67 for lunch for 2 which we wouldn’t have minded if we enjoyed the food. I try to support vegan cafes/ restaurants and those that provide us options but sadly I won’t be supporting this place again.
