Bland

We went to Gaia because the nearby vegetarian places listed appeared to have closed down. It's a large, fairly basic and traditional-looking restaurant which offers an extensive menu (mostly variations on a theme). However, the food was pricey and turned out to be average at best with little taste. We were still hungry even after scoffing the bread and the olives included in the cover charge and a shared dessert. The dishes we chose were so unexciting, I can't even remember what we had.
I admire what they're doing, particularly in such a carnivorous country, but the focus should be on taste as well as variety. We had some lovely vegetarian food in non-veg restaurants.

Cons: Bland food

Hi LydiaS, which places have closed down? Do we still list any of them?
Please let us know, thanks.

I'd give it a second chance..

I thought the soup I had was amazing (vegetable cream) however I do not recommend seitan escalopes- it didn't taste good at all 😕My husband was more lucky with his choice so I think I would give it a second chance if I ever come back to Seville.

Buena materia prima

Buen restaurante vegetariano con gran variedad de platos veganos. Productos frescos y de temporada. Platos abundantes y ricos. Precios algo elevado pero la calidad de los productos lo compensa. Lo recomiendo sin duda.

nice food

food was nice but not the best we found in seville. friendly service. more on the expensive side. for €10.95 i had a small portion of gazpacho (very tasty), a small portion of ratatouille (tasty) with a homemade burger (not so tasty) and for pudding was vegan custard.

Pros: good variety, friendly staff

Good food

I got here about 215pm, which is prime time for lunch in Spain, but there was only one table occupied. Then at 330pm lots of people showed up. They have a meal of the day that costs 10.95€. It includes the choice of a first dish plus a second dish plus a dessert. I found the food to be a good overall but it was quite simple. The first plate was a mixed salad and the second plate was quinoa with some vegetables (not much seasoning). Dessert was yogurt with strawberry jam. They deserve credit for being a vegetarian organic restaurant but the food just seems a little expensive to me for what it was (I wish it had been a little more creative).

Pros: Vegetarian and organic

Healthy meal

We got the vegan tasting platter and a salad. The bret soup and bulgur wok were very tasty. Salad was ok- for a veggie restaurant, I expected a better salad dressing than unseasoned oil. Service is slow.

Pros: Lots of vegan options

Good value, good food!

Bar Ecologico Gaia is a great vegetarian restaurant with many vegan options. We had dinner there twice during our stay. Their tasting menu is a great value offering soup, tapa, croquets, a tempeh entrée and dessert. The food is great! The service is friendly and relaxed, so I wouldn’t recommend eating here if you are in a hurry.

Cons: Service can be slow, possibly need more help.

Many vegan options

My friend and I came to this restaurant for a daily lunch. Almost all dishes in that daily menu were vegan. For the price of 10,5 you can choose 1 of 3 starters (we ate soup), 1 of 3 main dishes (we had paella) and 1 of 3 desserts. Also we ordered fresh juice. The portions were big and worth the price. We would come here again.

Pros: Not too expensive, Daily luch

Cons: Not friendly staff, Cold inside

Good Enough

I had my hopes up for this restaurant but I have to say that I was a little disappointed. With that said - I want to highlight that they have MANY vegan options so I can't complain too much. I got the tasting menu which - is not a North American tasting menu - as everything was a full sized portion. The Vegetable Soup I got - similar to Borsch - was delicious and my favourite part. The food was good but nothing great. The portions are huge. The dessert was quite bad if I'm being honest - don't order the Gluten-free brownie. Also, if you order fruit - it is literally a Single Fruit - like an apple.

Pros: Many options

Cons: Not very tasty, Slow service

Disappointed

Drinks we asked for were out of stock (how hard is it to manage stock of bottles?). Burger and chips, undercooked, luke warm and not what was advertised. Second time at this place, there won't be a third.

Organic & Local

Gaia may not be the fanciest or smarter restaurant but it is an honest and good value for money place.
I had a menú lunch of two courses and dessert for 15 euro and all the food is organic. They have a good selection of local organic wines and many Yogi teas to choose from.
The food is simple but tasty and the restaurant is pleasant.
Knowing the history of the place (I used to live in Sevilla) the owners are more interested in serving honest local organic foods than fancy dishes.
Many vegan options on the menu including desserts.
On a Sunday lunch it was lovely to see many young families with kids!

Pros: Central location, Open on Sundays , Local & organic food

Cons: Menú stays the same

Boring and tasteless

This restaurant was such a disappointment! The food was really boring, tasteless and quite expensive. We ordered falafel with sautéed vegetables and the falafel was so dry and the vegetables was just some fried cabbage. We also ordered a salad with goat cheese and it was just four little pieces of a tasteless cheese and then pasta, some lettuce and canned corn, peas and carrot. Don’t waste your money here.

Cons: Tasteless food, Quite expensive, Boring environment

Nice ethos

Friendly service and loads of vegan choices. My partner had the vegan burger in a turmeric bun and absolutely loved it. I had the triple sandwich and it was ok, I wasn't crazy bout the tempeh they used but that's just down to personal choice. It was insanely quiet when we arrived. Needed a little music.

Pros: Lots of vegan options.

Auténtica "slow-food"

El restaurante vegetariano más antiguo de Sevilla.Sencillos platos muy sanos y todos ricos. Si estás de paso por la zona Plaza de Armas- Centro no te pierdas entrar a tomar su menú.

Acceptable vegan options

I had dinner here once and found a decent variety of vegan options on the menu. I enjoyed my wine, salad, and pasta. Nothing mind-blowing, but I wasn't dissatisfied at all. I wasn't here at a busy time, and found the service perfectly acceptable. Note: their sister business is a natural food market on the same block.

Pros: Decent vegan options

Cons: Not entirely vegan

Overpriced and disappointing...

I was here in June 2018 and this was the first I found near where I lived. I was very happy to find croquetas on the menu and it was possible to choose two different flavours which was great, I ordered mushrooms and carrot/almond. I also chose to have a main course Albóndigas de Soja in tomato sauce and french fries. To this I had a glass of wine.

The first I got was las croquetas which had very bland taste and I could not tell the difference between the two. I was very disappointed. Spices? 9€??

The main course was albóndigas meaning sojaballs which were very dry, even with the tomato sauce and lacked spices. The french fries were ok but not more.

The only thing that I enjoyed was the wine.

"Healthy" food doesn't need to be tasteless, spices are your friends.

Pros: Open until late, Organic and filled my stomach, Glass of wine at decent price

Cons: Very expensive for what you get, Very dry and without flavours, Not a gastronomical experience

Excellent lasagna and salmoreja

I ate at Gaia twice during my three days stay in Seville. The lasagne was really great, with a lot of green vegetables inside and covered with a really delicious bell pepper sauce. Also the Salmoreja was something I am going to remember long. The other dishes were good as well and the rose wine was a perfect match with the food.

The service was very friendly, there was no difficulties with foreign credit cards and the bathroom was clean and spacious.

Disappointing

I had high hopes because of some good reviews here and because they have lots of choice for vegans. I went for the vegan sandwich with tempeh, vegan cheese and pesto. It came with chips, ketchup and mustard, but the pesto was nowhere to be found.. It was not the tastiest vegan cheese and the tempeh was just bland. Also the chips could be crispier.

I was really hungry so it was OK, it was a large portion. But the whole experience was not so great, slow service, no music.. Especially for the price I expected more.

Pros: Lots of choice for vegans

Cons: Tasteless, Slow service, Boring atmosphere
