Don’t understand vegan and rude staff - Edit
Went here because Bahn mi’s are one of my favourite foods and we were on a road trip to Wellington. I specifically asked if the spicy tofu Bahn mi could be made vegan because it was under the vegetarian section of the menu. The server didn’t quite understand so I just asked her for no mayonnaise and no butter or dairy products. I then received a Bahn mi COVERED and I mean COVERED in mayo so I went back and was treated so bad by staff. After being ignored for about 5 minutes, one of the cooks proceeded to blame me and say I didn’t ask for no mayo and that if I did the server clearly didn’t hear me (no apology). They hesitantly remade my food and slapped it in my hand without a word. Regardless of the terrible service, this Bahn mi was the worst I have ever had.

Found Banh Mi due to previous Happy Cow reviews. Really pleased we went there. The brother and sister team were welcoming and informative. The restaurant was pleasant to sit in with good seating options and nice decor. There is take-away options too. We hadn't had Vietnamese cuisine before thinking it was very meaty. The front page was dedicated to vegetarian options which can be made vegan. We had the Vietnamese pancake, fried noodles and curry with rice to share. All were freshly made with tofu and a range of vegetables. The flavours were beautiful, light and fresh. The curry was creamy almost buttery in taste (coconut milk) and the pancake was crisp and chewy filled with grated cabbage and other vegetables. We were surprised at how nice it all was and would definitely go there again. The opening hours mean there is something to have that's vegan in the evening when all the cafe's doing veg food have closed down.

Amazing service! - Edit
This new restaurant in Whanganui is accommodating for vegans. It has a menu titled ‘Vegetarian’ but everything on it is vegan (I triple checked😅) .
