Didn't even get as far as ordering

My husband and I decided to try this place after reading the mostly good reviews on here.

Got there, one other table occupied so deathly quiet. Owner came over, we said that we had heard from the Happy Cow that he was happy to veganise parts of the menu. He laughed, shrugged, and replied "It depends what you mean." Talk about awkward.

After a moment of silence, my husband asked if one of the noodle dishes could be made with tofu instead of chicken, and if that would make it vegan. Again, the guy laughed, and said "You can change what you like." He then walked off back to the kitchen, at which point my extraordinarily mild-mannered husband declared he wanted to leave, and we were happy to just get back in the car and try somewhere else. We have never left a place without even placing an order before, but this was mortifying. Be warned.

Cons: Rude owner

not such a great experience

I've eaten at this restaurant before and the food is decent. Today I tried to order a vegan pad Thai on the phone. The guy asked me if I want tofu. I said yes but do you fry the tofu in the same fryer as meat? He says "yes that's the way we do it. It's too complicated to do it separately". I said "ok don't fry it for my order then". He's like "no it's already fried. I think your order is too complicated. Maybe you shouldn't order from here" lol.

I think it's a good small business and I don't want to discourage anyone if they want to go. But beware of cross contamination.

Bangkok Thai Food

My husband and I went out to dinner for the first time as vegans. We went to Bangkok Thai Food in Parksville. When I asked what was vegan, the waiter/owner said everything. We ordered three dishes that were prepared vegan and they were delicious. An overall great experience.

Delicious Food ad Friendly Owner

Dinner and conversation were both very good. We ate the Spring Rolls (not on menu in vegetarian version, but the owner was happy to make them), Papaya Salad and Pad Thai and thought all were excellent. We also had a good chat with the owner about Thai food – in Parksville and in Thailand - and Happy Cow. This little restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Pros: delicious, freshly prepared food, friendly owner

Cons: limited parking

Amazing Vegan Thai food!

Found this place through google. Figured my husband and I would check it out, SO glad that we did. The owner is amazing, he said that he would be happy to make anything we ordered on the menu Vegan. We suggested that he post this in his windows. I ordered #16, made it spicy with rice noodle, my hubby ordered #30 with additional coconut rice. The food was great, inexpensive and we had an enlightening conversation with him. He is very much a vegan at heart.. maybe one day. I'll be eating there often :)

Pros: made our meals vegan, great prices, wonderful service
