Hostel restaurant with some vegan and vegetarian options - Edit
I tried the vegan sandwich, quinoa salad (with a kind of mozzarella) and vegetable soup.
Read moreEverything was good but the portions are very generous. I couldn’t eat all the cheese of the quinoa salad because it was too much and very very salty (not like the real Italian mozzarella)

I only ate here once and ordered the risotto vegan. It was delicious and it looked like there was a nice selection of vegan options on the menu.

Vegan oasis - Edit
Central Huacachina with a lot of options! I ordered the vegetarian sandwich without cheese and added hummus (the veg sandwich had way more veggies than the vegan one). Later the next day I ordered the vegan risotto. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t horrible either. Loaded with tons of vegetables. My boyfriend ordered the chicken curry (there was a vegan option as well) and he said it was pretty good! Just nice to have more options than 1-2!

We went here a few times during our stay in the Huacachina oasis as there is definitely a lack of good vegan food options there. The Bananas hostel has a few specified vegan options on their menu as well as some vegetarian options which are vegan as well. We tried the vegan sandwich and the vegetarian Thai Curry and the food tasted really good. When buying food at the hostel, you can also stay on the hostels premises as long as you want to.

Lots of veggie and vegan options. I had the vegano sandwich which comes with a portion of chips. I added cheese to mine but the usual ingredients (hummus, avocado, tomato and basil) were soo tasty. Sandwich and chips was 17 soles!

Satisfying food in a fun environment - Edit
That day I remember my partner and I went super hungry, we ordered three meals and one drink, after waiting above twenty minutes our food arrived, no-lomo saltado, vegetables curry, and a falafel!the flavors were delicious my only complain is that the curry didn't felt like curry, it was more like a dry vegetables soup.

Went here twice to eat and got a lot of mixed information about the contents of the food. Apparently, the 'vegan' curry also contains regular milk. The quinoa burger is meant to be vegan, but, and this is just my suspension, I think it's held together by egg. Also, no sauce on the burger. The risotto is far from being a risotto and has a strange consistency. Sad to give such a low rating for a place.

many vegan options, nice area and pool! - Edit
This hostel probably has the best variety of vegan options in Huacachina. I had some nachos with guacamole and the lomo saltado. Good portion sizes and taste. They have vegan items on their menu clearly marked. Also the fruit juices are yummy. When you consume around 100 soles you can use the pool area which we did. It might get crowded at lunchtime but I recommend going afterwards when everyone's on their tours. Their patio is beautiful, lots of greens with a nice bar! :)

Canned mushrooms :( - Edit
I dropped by gear and had the build your own salad. Kinda pricey for what it was, and a larger portion would’ve been nice. That said, the avocado was outstanding and plentiful, and the lime juice and oil dressing was super tasty. They were definitely the stars did the show.
Read moreThe big disappointment, however, we’re the mushrooms. Just sad little champignons from a van sitting in there. Some sautéed oyster mushrooms or just better champignons cut into slices and sautéed would’ve gone a long way here.
That said, it’s a nice place to sit and there aren’t a ton of options around, so it’s not a bad option if you’re in Huacachina.

I had the vegan waffles for breakfast which come with fruit - it's a good size and very filling. The description on here states there are vegan waffles OR oatmeal but this isn't correct, they are vegan oatmeal waffles, there isn't a separate option of oatmeal.

Had the mushroom dish and falafel. Falafel a bit dry but delicious with guacamole. The mushroom dish was very simple and the mushrooms were from a can. Don’t expect too much from the food and enjoy the cozy place and the vibe instead. Best coffee I‘ve experienced in Peru so far though.

Poor service - Edit
Arrived after 7pm after a tiring day of sandboarding and just showered and wanted something to eat before bed. Chose what I thought is the fastest thing on the menu. (Hummus veggie sandwich) So why did it take over 1 hour to get food? Because the person managing the cash register is not clear and neither are the waitstaff/bartender. I asked the man at the register with the menus if I can sit anywhere. He said yes and that is all. I couldn’t find an open seat and asked the waiter if some empty seats with empty drinks at the bar are available. He said no and pointed to the back, so I say and waited. After 20-30 minutes the girls sitting next to me asked if I wanted to order food and kindly explained that you have to order at the register, give your name, and then they bring the food. So I did. No food. After 45min I noticed the place hardly had customers left. I moved to the bar and asked how long for my food and showed my receipt. He took it and said 6 minutes. Apparently you have to turn in your ticket to get food. Would’ve been nice to know. Not sure the point of giving your name either. No one bothered to check on what I was doing there just sitting waiting except for 2 other customers. Terrible service.

I ordered the vegan waffles for breakfast and it was delicious. Perfect size portion, colourful and diverse fruit salad, and delicious syrupy stuff on top. Reasonable price. There was also vegan oatmeal and other lunch options on the menu.
