Loads of vegan choice! - Edit
The vegan menu at Banana Tree is massive! We were spoiled for choice. In the end we had 4 dishes to share. The sweet and sour sauce on the vegan bites dish with sticky rice, was really amazing. The noodles has fresh mint on top which was unexpected but very welcome. Would definitely visit again.

Pretty good and great value - Edit
My husband and I both really enjoyed our food. My parents didn’t enjoy theirs as much. The staff was friendly. I very much recommend the vegan corn fritters, the Japanese curry and the lychee mint cooler!!

I’d never been to a Banana Tree restaurant before but I was definitely impressed. It was a lovely venue and the menu had a large number of vegan dishes to choose from. I will definitely be returning to try out other options!

Decent food at a decent price - Edit
A decent proportion of the menu is available as a vegan option. I ordered the Satay Skewers, Blackened Monks Noodles and Spring Rolls. The food was served to us quickly, and was absolutely amazing! I’m almost wishing I ordered the whole platter of Satay, instead of the single portion because they were so good.

Great food and cocktails - Edit
Starters and mains were all delicious, particularly the aubergine tamarind curry. They had one vegan option for dessert - banana fritters, these weren’t so good. Cocktails were lovely too!

I’ve been to this place several times now and never had a bad meal. Have had the vegan satay sticks, the pad Thai, and the spiced aubergine dish and they have all been absolutely delicious. Good ambience and music, and friendly staff too

Delicious aubergine dish - Edit
Preferred the tamarind aubergine and tofu with sticky rice after reading the other reviews. Was not disappointed, it was delicious! Service was fantastic and mocktails two for one all day. Also had edamame beans with spicy seasoning which were amazing.

Great miso soup! - Edit
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. On the menu there are various clearly - labelled vegan options. The miso soup with tofu starter was one of the best starters I have had, really good flavours. The service was fast and efficient too. Looking forward to returning

One of the best - Edit
Banana tree is definitely one of the best chains that offers vegan asian options. My favourites are the pad thai and the singapore laksa, both which come with a really nice puffed tofu. The vegan coconut kari, sweet and sour stir fry and the satay sticks are also incredible and come with their “vegan bites” which are some of the most realistic vegan alternatives I’ve ever had. 100% would recommend.

Delicious - Edit
Overall a very very nice meal! The sweetcorn cakes, coconut curry and the banana fritters and sorbets were particularly delicious and although a bit expensive I can’t wait to dine here again. I had the vegan bites which are basically a soo goer/airier form of tofu and very nice.
Read moreThe waiters were all very helpful, and careful not to give me anything I have intolerances to, however I ordered the banana fritters with sorbet (to make it vegan) and when they brought it out they’d given me dairy vanilla. They changed it quickly and it was fine, but seeing another reviewer write this below is a little worrying.
It was also a little cramped and noisy, but the food made up for it so 4*s overall.

Pros: Really tasty food, Careful about intolerances for the most part
Cons: Bit expensive, Noisy and crowded

Great service, lots of free spaces on a Friday afternoon, and delicious food. Not cheap but worth it. We were there during happy hour where you get two cocktails for the price of one and they were delicious too.

Tasty food, but not impressive - Edit
If your a massive foodie and love hunting for vegan finds, I wouldn’t bother. Hmmm yeah I love the fact that this restaurant is vegan friendly and the staff are lovely, but the food wasn’t that impressive. To be honest me and my partner loved our sides more then we liked our mains. After two sides and two mains between both me and my partner I was still left hungry and for the price!! that’s where stars are lost. We spent £50 for what we got, a bit steep if you ask me. Other then that, great service can’t fault on that and was lured into the restaurant only because they had a vegan menu. Probably wouldn’t come back only because I’m sure we would try our luck else where in the beautiful town of oxford.

Happily surprised! - Edit
Banana Tree is the home of Indochinese food in the heart of Notting Hill. The place is very simple with no particular embellishment or theme. It’s also very quiet, with few customers. It could be a bad sign, like the poor quality of the food, but don’t be mislead by that! Their menu has a lot of vegan and gluten-free options, with pictures! The fried vegetable dumplings with spicy sweet and sour sauce are an explosion in your mouth with the crispy batter creating a perfect contrast with its warm and soft vegetable stuffing. The accompanying sauce is quite spicy. The Bun Bo Vietnamese salad with satay skewers is da bomb. A bit way too healthy (maybe), but super filling and satisfying. The staple ingredient of this main dish are rice noodle garnished with fresh vegetables, crumbled nuts, crispy sautéed spring onions, a huge (vegan) shrimp chip, and mini vegetable spring rolls, all seasoned with a delicious Nuoc Cham sauce. The skewers, which in the normal version are made of chicken, are made of seitan and it’s a good mock meat choice. The Nuoc Cham sauce has a sweet and slightly spicy flavor. This salad bowl It’s something messy and chaotic, yet fun and colorful to play with! These Banana “Frotiteroles” that apart from being a lame pun (between fruit and profiteroles) was a complete disaster. They tried to make profiteroles with bananas. A sort of fried batter around the fruit, moistened with a sweet chocolatey syrup; both taste and consistency are sickening (and not in a good way), it’s like eating a too-mature splattered banana. Fortunately, they come with a scoop of mango or raspberry sorbet that save the day!

Very tasty, a full vegan menu - Edit
Offers a full vegan selection when you enter the restaurant, which is nice. Went for a lunch offer which was 11 pounds for a starter and a main. I went for the spring rolls for starter, which was delicious and for the sweet and sour stir fry for the main which was okay but I'm not too kin in the big chunks of soy balls.
Read moreOverall a nice place to go if you are vegetarian/vegan in Oxford, specially with the total absence of veggie restaurant in the city center.
Pros: A full vegan menu, vegan spring rolls, fast service during lunch time
Cons: Very cold Air Conditioning (November time) , chopsticks only on request 🥢
