Balaji Dosai
Sri Lankan and South Indian food restaurant with several outlets in Kandy (1 near police station, 1 near temple of the tooth, 1 on Senanayake street). No Colombo Street location as of May 2016. This location offers more choices. Around 65rs for lunch packet (rice and veg), 70-140rs for dosai, 70rs for string hoppers, 15-30rs for snacks, 40rs for a sweet, 15rs for black tea.

Very Good Food, Selections and Good Service - Edit
We had a very nice Masala Dosa; served in reasonable time and with good service. The café is clean and the experience was nice. I would eat here again in Kandy.
Pros: Good Food and Good Menu, Clean and Good Serice, Reasonable Prices

best masala dosa of my life. - Edit
There is sometimes a bit of confusion with staff about what's vegan and what's not.
There are two locations and the one closer to temple of the tooth is more expensive, busier and much hotter, especially if you have to sit upstairs. If you can, head to the location near Kandy railway station on Peredinaya road!

delicious - Edit
Really tasty, simple dosa and gravy. Super tasty. Has the feel of a fast food outlet. The McDonald's of dosa, if you like. Don't let that put you off though. The food is great. Simple menu and at a very cheap price. Highly recommended
Pros: super tasty, very cheap, several locations
Cons: atmosphere of a fast food place

Good restaurent but not completely vegan - Edit
Good food and a nice place for vegetarians. Not all food are vegan and some may contain dairy. And they don't know the difference between vegetarian and vegan food, so better to clarify whether the food contains dairy or not, before placing an order.

Balaji Dosai - Edit
The food is delicious but be very careful if you want vegan as most of the items have dairy.
They also didn't seem to understand the difference between vegetarian and vegan.
Pros: delicious , inexpensive
Cons: hard to figure out what was vegan

Eat like rhe locals in a super down to earth atmosphere. The peoplethere are very nice and accomodating and the food is great! Highly reccomended. We tried a bit of everything (a party of six kids) and everything was delicious. Freshly made dosai with coconut chutney and sambal with pumpkin. Sweet :-)

the saviours of kandy - Edit
this is the only vegetarian restaurant in kandy (they have 5 branches!) and a real saviour for vegetarians like us. we ate here every day and it was always delicious.the snacks are fresh and cheap and the lunch packet is a good deal at 100rs,since you can ask for refills.
their sweets are really good for sri lankan standards.
the ulundu vade and susiyan are really tasty.
most dishes are vegan, only the special dosa is baked in butter.
friendly staff especially in the colombo street branch (they have more choice here and have all the sweets)
Pros: fresh and tasty, friendly staff, cheap
