Serves meat, vegan options available. Bakotu Hotel has two restaurants on-site and they share the same kitchen. Captain’s Table is open for dinner and serves a few vegan and vegetarian choices like pumpkin-coconut curry, vegetables in a peanut sauce and grilled vegetables. On the side they have rice, couscous, chips. At Baobab Restaurant every evening they have a 3-course menu, most of the time includes a vegan choice or if not, chef will make it vegan for you. Baobab is also open for lunch; you can choose chips or grilled eggplant. In the low season the hotel is closed and it is reported that the restaurant is also. Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-11:00pm.

Lunch

For lunch we had a plate of fruit and the homemade humus and grilled aubergine. The humus was very delicious! It was a pity that it was the only vegan option on the lunch menu.

Pros: Nice humus

Cons: Little options for vegan lunch

Expensive & greasy

The curry is good, but other options are swimming in oil.

Pros: Some vegan options

Cons: Not that tasty, Expensive (for Gambia)

Surprised

I was positively surprised about the vegan food in the Gambia :)
We stayed in Bakotu hotel for two weeks and we had half pension. When you book half pension you have dinner at restaurant Baobab. I didn’t expect the variety in the meals. It was end of the season so we were the only guests that had dinner at the Baobab everyday and so the last week we were transferred to others hotel’s restaurant: Captain’s Table ( a la cart).
I really like the Summer Grill & Vegetable Stack without the sauce

Pros: professional kitchen, good price, good variety

Cons: some dishes aren't available every day
