The bacon at Bagel City in Kings Park is NOT VEGAN.
Read moreLong post ahead: I called Bagel City this morning to order an egg sandwich. I asked if they had vegan bacon and they told me yes. Then I asked what brand it was (I had my suspicions because the person who shared the post about them having vegan options posted a picture and I saw the signature yellow lines in the bacon making me think it was Morning Star). After putting someone else on the phone, the woman told me it was Morning Star brand. I told her that Morning Store does not make vegan bacon and asked her if she was sure it was vegan. She was adamant that it was vegan bacon and kept telling me she was looking right at it. I asked her if there was egg or dairy and she kept saying no and eventually got a little bit of an attitude with me because I was very persistent in asking her if she was sure. Eventually she offered to text me a picture of the box she was looking at so I gave her my number and sure enough I receive the 2nd picture below. It’s labeled vegetarian and says egg and milk right in the ingredients. I immediately call back and ask for the woman but a man gets on the phone and tells me he sent me the picture (maybe an owner or manager). I explain very seriously that the bacon is not vegan and they can not advertise vegan bacon if it has egg and milk. I explained the difference between vegan and vegetarian because I think that’s where he was confused. He said he saw veggie bacon and vegetarian and I guess he didn’t know there was a difference between vegan and vegetarian. His response to me pointing out the mistake was “you’re right” (like lol yes I know thank you). I offered to text him pictures of a few vegan bacon and sausage brands if he was interested. He said yes so I sent him some options (lightlife, sweet earth, hooray bacon and beyond meat and gardein sausage) and he thanked me and that was that. If you go make sure that you do not receive the bacon with the yellow stripes in it as that contains milk and egg. I was very serious explaining allergies and things to him but I don’t know what their plan is with the bacon they have left so just be mindful if you go.

Ordered a vegan breakfast sandwich this morning and they only offered sausage! I asked what kind because of this post and because I don’t love all vegan sausage. It is beyond sausage so I’m thinking they took your phone conversation seriously and they just aren’t offering vegan bacon at this time!
