Straight Back To Werk - Edit
The thought of eating from this chain was the only thing that sustained me through the arduous five-hour bus journey from Poland. So, no sooner had I pulled into the station, I made a beeline for this outlet.
Read moreNow well acquainted with the ordering system, I grabbed a tray and began to pluck as many plant-based goodies as I could from their respective cubbyholes.
First on the agenda was the Kaiserbrötchen Kartoffelrösti. With memories of my first encounter with this tasty morsel still fresh, it was a foregone conclusion that I’d have it again
The same premise saw me snaffle up a couple of the vanilla sticks - being the divine parcels of custardy perfection they are, there was no way I was leaving without at least one.
In a valiant effort to broaden my horizons slightly, I added a couple of new additions to my mini feast, the traditional pretzel and the crunchy vegan chicken burger.
Suffice it to say, I had a stupendous time wolfing down everything - it was all brilliant. There isn’t much need for further embellishment with this one, it’s just an incredible place to quickly pick up some outstanding food and at a not too unreasonable price. It will take much self-control to refrain from diving back into this (or any other) branch, and I wager that I won’t succeed - and honestly, I hope I don’t.

Regular backwerk - Edit
It is part of the chain and has pretty much the same as any backwerk. It is between platforms 12-13-14 I am not sure, but on the east side, top floor, just under the platforms.
Read moreI had a sandwich and a bretzel. The price is about 3-4€ per Sandwich and 1.50€ for one Brezel.

Good for early pre train Brekky - Edit
We had an early train. I was happy to get some tasty vegan food. They had falafel sandwich/baguette as well as a vegan vanilla custardy danish type thing. Also got a brezel. I saw they had some more things in the fridge like a falafel wrap and overnight oats.
Read moreRe coffee, it’s self serve with an espresso machine. I did see some plant milks on the table to manually add to a coffee. But I don’t like this type of coffee so I suggest leaving enough time to head somewhere else for a coffee - I went to Starbucks which is on the same floor but otherside of the station. (Starbucks also had a vegan apple strudel which perhaps I wish I hadn’t bought so much at back werk so I could have room for that 😛)

There were a few vegan options luckily. All tasty! Just weird that you can't get plantbased milk with your coffee...

Many vegan options - Edit
The best place to pick some item wthen in hurry. They have a bunch of vegan options (even a vegan burger with vegetable patty), however not all of them are labelled on the place. They have a special page on their website, so use it as a guide. Definitively recommended!

Hits the spot when you need a quick meal for your travels. Plus it’s super reasonably priced. Not the most inventive food but saved me a lot of time, when running for the train last minute. :)

Last resort - Edit
This is a last resort thing: They hardly have any vegan options but it is conveniently located inside of the train station on the second floof ("erste Etage"). They have two seats only, so it is take-away. Staff does not have time to check any ingredients. Vegan options are usually a spinach börek, a vegan schnitzel roll and an avocado roll but sometimes, none is available. Quality is good, though.

One of the few places to get tasty vegan sandwiches and other snacks for a good price around the HBF. I like the Schnitzen-Sandwich and the Müsli they offer (sometimes?).

Way too expensive for something which is OK at best - Edit
It is nice that some chains like Backwerk, Kamps, Crobag, etc. now offer vegan foods and supply german train stations (where they are ubiquitous) with vegan snacks. But only go here if you are really desperate! At Backwerk, you pay 3 EUR for half a falafel roll with german salad sauce on it. Only worth it if you have not more than 5 minutes to get your train. You are in Berlin, there is always something better around!

Succulent spinach borek - Edit
If you're in the train station looking for a snack to eat immediately or take away on your train ride: look no further. BackWerk has clearly marked options, which are very tasty and almost all of them healthy too!
Read moreThey have two vegan sandwiches with chia bread (with tomato paste and with vegan schnitzel), spinach borek (served warm!), falafel wrap, fresh vegetable sticks and yoghurt with fruit. It's definitely the place on HPB which has the most vegan options.

Not fresh, not tasty and no friendly personnel - Edit
Had a really bad experience here... the food was cold, tasted like old stuff and the personnel was not nice at all. We were surprised that you couldn't pay with a bank card (just a regular bank card and no credit card) but only with cash. We were only just a few cents short and were off to an ATM. Once we returned we discovered that our bagels were gone and that the same cashier (from 10 minutes ago) didn't recognise us at all... very disappointing experience.. we've had much better. Saw that the Vapiano had some vegan options as well. Better go there!

vegan options!! - Edit
There were a few vegan options, and I was very excited! Look for the little round green stickers/signs in the store. Most of the locations in Berlin have vegan sandwiches. I noticed not so many in Frankfurt had vegan items.
