Vegetarian Menu, good options.

This quaint Houston icon serves high quality, tasty food. It's a high class table service operation so you can expect that the low turnover staff will remember you on repeat visits.

I love the vegetable platter vegan style. They substitute mixed mushrooms for the mac and cheese. The mix almost always includes maitake and it's one of my favorites. Their risotto is vegan and is also filling.

During Houston's convertible weather months, take advantage of one of the best outdoor dining experiences in the city: Backstreet's lovely fountained back patio. Or visit the dog friendly front porch with your pooch.

Pros: Vegetarian Menu with well marked vegan options., Beautiful, romantic atmosphere., Top level service.

Cons: Expensive.

Great patio

Ask for the vegetarian menu. Several dishes are vegan. My personal favorite is the lentil salad (minus the bureaus.

Pros: Beautiful old oak tree on the patio, Amazing wine list, Good for a late relaxing lunch

Go there it's awesome

Yes they serve meat. It's Texas most of us have gotten over the fact that unless we choose to eat at a very limited selection of all vegan / vegetarian restaurants spread across a giant city we are typically going to have to "share the table" with meat eaters so to speak, there is no better place to do that than the Ortega group restaurants, and backstreet is no exception. Plenty of options and happy to accommodate as well as have menu options for vegans / vegetarians. I don't have pics to add on this phone, but go to my blog for those and more info. Oh and the portions are huge! See the veggie plate photo on my blog :)

Best brunch in Houston!

One of the best brunches I had in the Houston area. Plenty of vegetarian options and you can eat-all-you-can. Nor cheap, neither super-expensive.

I also had lunch several times, the grilled artichoke and the vegetarian club are delicious.
