Vegan Schneeball Available

A bakery that sells the famous "Schneeball", typical sweet in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. There were vegan options for this sweet, which caught our eye. The attendant spoke English and the service was reasonable. We tried it and found it very tasty. It's worth a try.

Confeitaria que vende o famoso “Schneeball” (bola de neve), doce famoso e tradicional na cidade. Havia opções veganas deste doce, o que nos chamou a atenção positivamente. O atendente falava inglês, atendimento razoável. Experimentamos e achamos bastante saboroso. Vale a pena experimentar.

No vegan Schneeballen available

There were no vegan Schneeballen available. Cashier didn't even know when they will get stocked up "probably someday next week". Disappointing, feels like they use the term 'vegan' mostly for marketing reasons...

Good snack pit stop

3 option for the vegan schneeballen. Tried what looked like the most tradition, with just powdered sugar. Was quite delightful. If you like light sweets, and to get a bit of German food culture good little stop off. Just watch out if you’re wearing black like I was as the powdered sugar basically exploded onto my clothes!

Pros: Traditional , Multiple vegan options

Cons: A bit messy

vegan snowballs

I came for a vegan snowball - they had a selection of three different kinds. Cinnamon, powdered sugar and amaretto-choc-marzipan. I choosed the last one and it was a tasty sweet snack!

Three Vegan Schneebäll Options

Visited on Nov 11, 2023 and they had three vegan schneebäll options available: cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, and dark chocolate with almond.
I ordered cinnamon sugar. The dough is fairly thin and crispy, so it’s like a massive ball of cinnamon and sugar cracker. Nice little treat. I really appreciate the opportunity to try vegan versions of local specialties, and the employees were super kind and helpful.

No vegan snowballs available

We asked Friday to Tuesday if the had any vegan snowballs and all cashier each day told us a different story when they’ll come back. One said in the beginning of next week, but still there was nothing.😒

Vegan snowball

Only place I've seen with a vegan snowball! They only had 1 option even though their menu listed 4. It was definitely not the worst thing I've eaten, I enjoyed it!

Ok for coffee.

Ok for coffee, not much else. Their vegan snowball cake was very disappointing, the shop assistant said they’re not as good as the traditional ones (after we’d paid for them), we didn’t finish ours, tasteless & bland. Save yourself a walk! We’ve had so many tasty vegan cakes on our travels. For such a beautiful town with so many visitors the whole experience here has been awful vegan wise.

Quaint cafe, pleasantly surprised!

We were pleasantly surprised that there were vegan Schneeballs. We ordered the powdered sugar ones and found them to be a bit dry. Restaurant is dog friendly.

The place to try vegan schneeballen

This is currently the only place in Rothenburg selling vegan versions of their local delicacy schneeballen. Be aware they did not have any when we visited on a Sunday despite advertising them in the window. On their advice, we returned on Monday morning and they only had the powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar variations, not the full advertised range. I don't know how they compare to non vegan varieties. They were ok, a little dry for my taste, nothing special but worth a try while in the area just because it's the done thing!

Vegan schneeballen

Heard about the local specialty ‘schneeballen’ and asked around in multiple bakeries and none offered vegan options. Here were vegan options in different tastes. I had cinnamon sugar. I liked it.

Try the Vegan Schneeball

I was positively surprised to find vegan Schneeball - a local speciality in Rothenburg ob der Tauber - at Striffler bakery. They had 4 different kinds the day I visited. One with powder sugar, one with sugar and cinnamon, one with vegan milk chocolate and one with dark chocolate and amaretto. I could not resist - all 4 tasted great.

If you are in Rothenburg give it a try.

Vegan Schneeballen

This was the only spot in Rothenburg that I was able to find and try vegan Schneeballen. It’s a local classic. It’s not my type of food but I’m glad I tried. They also have fresh bread, sandwiches and donuts.

Well priced and friendly service.

Pros: Vegan Schneeballen , Well priced , Friendly service
