Great tempeh

Some of the best tempeh I’ve had & delicious in a sandwich with green beans. Plus it’s affordable & served with a smile :)

Best food in Holland

My boyfriend and I went to Utrecht for a few days and we ended up coming here twice! Homemade tempeh was delicious, especially in a baguette

Pros: Service was amazing - lovely woman, Really tasty food! Big baguettes, Lots of options

amazing tempeh!

On first look this store doesn’t seem as great as it tastes. We paid 17 euro for 2 sandwiches and a rice/tempeh dish that filled us up more than paying triple that at the trendy vegan places down the street. If you are a traveling vegan trying to save a few bucks, take your food down to the canal or park. The owner is knowledgeable about veganism, she even asked if I was vegetarian or vegan to when preparing my food to make sure I didn’t get egg noodle. This tempeh is some of the best I’ve ever had!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Knowledgeable about veganism, Fast, delicious, and cheap!

Cons: no dine in space

I love Babby Snacks!!

The owner (I think) was so friendly! She asked where we were from and shared a little conversation while she prepared the order. I asked for noodles and she pointed out they were egg noodles, so she is knowledgeable on what “vegan” even means. All in all, was a good choice for a quick bite.

Pros: Quick, Tasty, Appropriately priced

best tempeh sandwich in town

I absolutly love the tempeh sandwich they serve here. Super cheap, full of taste. Not really a place to dine in, but when you are looking for a quick snack in Utrecht, this is the place to be.

Sandwich Babby!!

Best place to get an Indonesian snack.
We work nearby Babby. Sometimes, if we get hungry we scream: " broodje babby!" (Sandwich Babby).
They serve a realy nice roll with temphe/tahu.
Service is good as ever. Nice chat and nice prices.

Best quality vegan fast food

Place has meat, veggie, and vegan option. With the choice between whole dishes or nice sandwiches. Sandwiches are only 3,50 euros, but huge, and oh so tasty. They really know there tempeh!

Very small and kind of looks like a snackbar, so more a place for take away.

Pros: omnomnom.... Broodje tempeh/tahu is soooo good!

Cons: Small with tl-lighting

tasty, quick and cheap!

They have super tasty tempeh here (well spiced; a little sweet, a little spicy..). You can get it in a bread with green beans (Broodje) or as a plate with some other vegetables. I would always go for a the Broodje with tempeh or tempeh/tofu mix but I remember other vegetables for the plate was good too. super quick and tasty meal/snack for very low price (3.5 euro?). Wonder if I can try bringing my own container so that I don't have to end up with a plastic plate.. (even for the bread!)

Pros: Tasty tempeh!, Quick, cheap, large

Cons: Only disposable plates even when you eat in

Quick, easy, filling, and veg-friendly!

This is my kind of fast food! Located across the street from the ACU (another great address for vegetarians in Utrecht), Babby Snacks is apparently run by only one woman, but is very fast and convenient nevertheless. Inside of a glass case, you see your choices: seasoned noodles with some veggies -- much like lo mein -- or fried rice with veggies -- sort of nasi goreng (no fish sauce or meat additives in the rice or noodles), green beans, tempeh marinated in chili and soy sauce, fried tofu with a similar sauce, or chicken, and boiled eggs. Order small (7 euros), medium (8), large (9), x-large (10), or family size (11). There are also sandwiches for 4 or 5 euros, I think. A medium was a good size for dinner for me, along with a mango juice. Each size allows you more choices of stuff in your dish. Be sure to mention to the owner that you are vegetarian or vegan, and she'll leave out chicken and/or eggs for you. Once you pick what you want, she heats it up, puts it in a plastic take-away dish with a lid, and you're good to go! It probably is better to go, having said that, because it's a very small place, with just one bench to sit on if you want to eat on-site. There is definitely a rush of people coming in to get a quick dinner around 5:30 or 6 p.m. You can also get soda, bottled water, or tropical fruit juice to accompany your meal. The proprietor speaks English, so she can help you if you don't speak Dutch well. The food is yummy, filling, relatively healthy in comparison to most fast food, fast, and cheap -- what more can you ask for from fast food?

Pros: as fast as fast food, inexpensive, vegan and vegetarian options

Cons: be sure to specify vegetarian/no meat!!, can get busy around mealtimes, somewhat oily/salty -- not health food!

tempehtemple

if you love tempeh you should go here, if you're not that fond of tempeh, you should definately go here, because they know exactly how to make it taste delicious!
one bun with a fair amount of tempeh and, if you prefer, some green beans for 3 euros.

Pros: cheap , fast, really good

Always friendly

Since Babby Snacks is right across the street from the ACU (see ACU Kitchenpunx) where bands frequently play, they benefit from this. It's great to get a snack there in between bands. Even though the choices are limited for vegetarians / vegans (either a roll with tempeh, tofu or a mix of both) it is tasty enough to satisfy and make you come back. Staff is always friendly.

Pros: Good location, Cheap, Tasty
